Discover the All-New 2020 Ford Explorer

If you are in the market for a three-row, midsize SUV, then the all-new 2020 Ford Explorer should be at the top of your list. This is the sixth generation in Ford’s line of Explorers, and it presents a giant step for Ford into the next decade of SUVs. Among the updates is an all-new platform for the Explorer, providing a roomier interior, more efficient layout, and overall better performance. The 2020 Ford Explorer is also 200 pounds lighter than its predecessor, which will give you a better drive and improved fuel efficiency. With four models to choose from, you should have no problem finding the 2020 Ford Explorer that best fits your needs and desires.

Four Models to Choose From, Priced Right For You

The all-new Ford Explorer comes in four different models. The base model is the XLT, and it starts at an MSRP of $36,675, with many standard features as well as options available. The other models of Explorer are the Limited with an MSRP of $48,130, the sporty ST with an MSRP of $54,470, and the fully-loaded Platinum with an MSRP of $58,250. However, the Limited and ST only have seating for six, unlike the XLT and Platinum, which can accommodate up to seven passengers.

The 2020 Ford Explorer Uncovers a New Look

The redesign of the Ford Explorer involved the building of a new unibody platform for the vehicle line. The 2020 Ford Explorer XLT has a wheelbase of 119.1 inches, a length of 198.8 inches, a width of 78.9 inches, and a height of 69.9 inches. This gives the new Explorer a sportier look and mimics the benefits of many more-expensive luxury midsize SUVs. But, the Explorer doesn’t lose any of the ruggedness and versatility that have been associated with the brand. In short, you won’t have to spend a million to look like a million in your all-new Explorer.

The new configuration has also made the interior of the Explorer roomier, with a more efficient layout. Front row passengers can enjoy 40.7 inches of headroom, 43 inches of legroom, and 61.8 inches of shoulder room. Your friends and family in the second row will have plenty of room as well, with 40.5 inches of headroom, 39 inches of legroom, and 61.9 inches of shoulder room. This is the result of the new Explorer’s unique configuration, going with two “Captain seats” in the second row, and a bench-type seat for the third row in the XLT. Need to take an extra three passengers along? There is plenty of room in the third row of your Explorer XLT. Your third-row passengers will have 38.9 inches of headroom, 32.2 inches of legroom, and 54.6 inches of shoulder room. Better yet, the third row can be accessed with just the touch of a button!

Are you not traveling with passengers but just having to move a lot of your stuff? The 2020 Ford Explorer has plenty of cargo capacity, especially with the two rows of seats folded down. The trunk offers 18.2 cubic feet of storage capacity, but that expands to 47.9 cubic feet with the third row folded down, and an astounding 87.8 cubic feet with the second row of seats folded down as well. The all-new 2020 Ford Explorer gives you the best of both worlds. You can use your all-new Ford Explorer for utility hauling activities during the day, and then take your friends and family out in luxury and style in the evening, all with the simple touch of a few buttons!

Find a New Engine Under the Hood of Your Brand New Explorer

The changes to the Ford Explorer are not just cosmetic. The Explorer XLT has Ford’s new DOHC 2.3 liter EcoBoost I-4 as its standard engine. This turbocharged four-banger provides over 300 horsepower and produces 310 lb-ft of torque, and is able to go from zero to 60 mph is just 7.0 seconds. Need a little more power? Upgrades are available to a powerful 3.0 liter EcoBoost V-6, standard on the Explorer ST, which produces 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. If you’d like to be environmentally friendly and improve your gas mileage, you can upgrade to Ford’s 3.3 liter Hybrid V-6. A 10 speed automatic transmission with manual shifting mode is standard on all models of the 2020 Ford Explorers. The Explorer ST is a rear-wheel drive, but Intelligent 4WD is available for an upgrade.

You’ll also be pleasantly surprised by the Ford Explorer’s fuel economy. The EPA has estimated that the Ford Explorer XLT will have a combined 20 mpg, with 18 mpg in city driving, and 24 mpg while out on the highway. Ford’s engineers have really outdone themselves, making a midsize, three-row SUV that is fun to drive while still being fuel-efficient.

Explorer Remains a Leader in Standard Safety Features

Ford does not skimp on safety features that are standard to the Explorer line. All Explorers have AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control. This is especially helpful if you have to take your Explorer out on a snowy or icy day. The Explorer LXT also has a front passenger knee airbag and Ford’s Safety Canopy System, which provides added protection to passengers in the unlikely event of a rollover. In addition, in the event of a crash, the Explorer will automatically engage the SOS Post-Crash Alert System. Ford has even made safety improvements for driving the vehicle. All Explorers come with Ford’s Co-Pilot 360 system, which includes a rearview camera with washer, lane-keeping system, and daytime running lights. Along with safety comes security, and your Explorer comes with a SecuriCode keyless entry keypad, allowing you to have a unique, personal code for your vehicle.
