What to Expect from the 2021 Chevy Trax

Chevrolet is known for designing and manufacturing vehicles that include the latest advancements in the industry, as well as some of the best safety features available. With an arsenal of cars, trucks, and SUVs, Chevrolet has quite an impressive selection to appeal to virtually any buyer’s needs. And along with its new arrivals for 2021, the Trax is making its appearance yet again. So, what can we expect from this 2021 Chevy Trax?

In the world of small crossover SUVs, the Chevy Trax has been around for a while and still sports a similar design and similar features found in older models, but don’t let that get you down. Why would Chevy fix something that isn’t broken, anyway? That said, here’s what to expect from the all-new Chevy Trax.

The Chevy Trax: Evolution of a Versatile SUV

The sporty Trax has been a staple in the Chevrolet inventory for quite a few years now, and although this basic, no-frills model offers pretty much what you’d expect from a small-size SUV, it’s built for whatever comes its way, able to offer a reliable ride with simple style and versatility. This crossover SUV is known for being the smallest SUV Chevy has ever made, but don’t let its size fool you. The Chevy Trax has been reformatted throughout the years to appeal to the masses.

With a turbocharged 1.4 L four-cylinder engine (which hasn’t changed since its inception), the Trax offers an exciting ride. Plus, the Trax offers ample cargo space, able to offer multiple configurations to help you fit your items into it with ease. When it comes to the 2021 model, here’s what’s new and what’s going away for good.

What’s New: Interior and Exterior Changes

One of the biggest changes with the latest model is the color choices. We are welcoming in four new colors to the lineup for 2021, which include:

  • Midnight Blue Metallic
  • Crimson Metallic
  • Iridescent Pearl Tricoat
  • Shadow Gray Metallic

You’ll want to bid adieu to Red Hot, Blue Metallic, Cajun Red Tricoat, and a few more colors that have been discontinued from the Trax selection. You can also say sayonara to the 18-inch Midnight Silver aluminum wheels and the chrome accents (with body-color handles ) on the doors.

As far as what’s new on the inside, you can expect to find the addition of a Premium Seat Package, which will feature full leatherette seats, heated and ventilated front seats, and more. SiriusXM Radio can now be found as a standard feature, starting with the LS model, and new packages are available as well. These include:

  • Cargo Package: Features a carpeted cargo mat with a cargo net for maximum convenience and organization.
  • Lifestyle Package: A cargo tray and accessory carrier mount that make carrying your bike a breeze so you don’t miss a beat of your active lifestyle.
  • Interior Protection Package: No messes here with front and rear all-weather floor mats and a carpeted cargo mat.
  • Tint & Cruise Package: Ride around in style with tinted rear windows and liftgate, and take advantage of electronic automatic cruise control (which does not come standard in some Trax options).

Features that are not returning to the 2021 model include the power sunroof option and the Bose 7-speaker sound system.

Trim Options

Instead of its three previous available trim options, the 2021 Trax is only available in two options, the LS and the LT. The LS includes a standard 7-inch touchscreen, 6-speaker sound system, and 60/40 split-folding rear seats. The LT option adds in features, like cruise control, LED running lights and roof rails, as well as heated outside mirrors.

You also have the option to add even more features to the LT, like upgraded safety options, keyless ignition and entry, faux leather seating, and heated front seats. Although there are fewer options available this year, the Trax does offer the opportunity to design the SUV that works best for you.

Changes to Standard and Available Safety Features

In the past, the Chevy Trax offered lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, active cruise control, and forward-collision warning as standard and available options; however, the new model does not offer these safety options. Instead, the LT option offers the Driver Confidence Package, which includes rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear vision camera, and rear cross-traffic alerts.

Don’t put your safety behind the wrong wheel. With ten airbags and a high-strength safety cage, the Trax is one of the safest options out there. Even though the Trax is very basic in terms of available features and safety options, the Chevrolet name continues to be a driving force in the world of safety and innovation.

Infotainment Expectations

As technology continues to evolve, the industry needs to follow suit, which means the Trax has undergone its fair share of infotainment upgrades since 2015. With ever-changing tech demands, the Chevy Trax must deliver, and throughout the years, it has added more sophisticated features to ensure it keeps up with the competition.

The 2021 Trax includes a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth streaming abilities, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration. An available built-in WiFi Hotspot makes any size road trip more interesting by keeping everyone connected.

Impressive Cargo Space

The Chevy Trax is a small SUV, but it utilizes its size well to include a variety of cargo options to fit many basic needs. The 2021 Chevy Trax is known to be a functional vehicle, and getting to where you need to go efficiently all starts with organization. Flat-fold seats, split-fold seats, and a maximum cargo space of 48.4 cu.ft. make fitting all your passengers or belongings into this car with ease.

No matter what the configuration, the Trax is able to help you carry what you need, whether it’s kids or camping gear. Available in eight unique seating configurations, the Trax continues to prove itself as being small but mighty in the land of compact SUVs.

Is the 2021 Chevy Trax a Good Car?

If you’re looking for a reliable vehicle that won’t let you down, the 2021 Trax is a basic crossover that will do just that. No, there may not be a lot of luxury features, but the Trax gets the job done without the fuss, offering a dependable and safe ride. With an affordable price tag and easy-to-maneuver size, the Trax is perfect for trips around town and gets an EPA-estimated 26 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway, which is pretty standard for comparable SUV options.

If you’re looking for something a bit bigger that offers a little more by way of upgrades and features, the Chevy Trailblazer is also an option, and a step up from the Trax. As you can see, Chevy has an option, no matter what your needs may be, making it a popular choice when shopping for reliable SUVs, cars, and trucks.
