The Chevy Trailblazer: Chevy’s Most Affordable SUV Model

Are you looking for a sporty compact SUV? The 2021 Chevy Trailblazer is for you. This sporty model is Chevy’s most affordable SUV option; it’s stylish, and despite its small size, it still offers plenty of cargo space. In fact, the interior is so spacious that drivers can even fit a kayak inside! Further, this model comes in five different trims, all of which include their own unique color options. The 2021 Trailblazer is perfect for anyone who wants to take adventures in style.

The 2021 Chevy Trailblazer’s Trim Levels

Let’s take a look at the 2021 Trailblazer’s different trim levels. First, the base level is the L trim. Despite being the lowest trim option, it comes with driver-assist features and Chevy’s Infotainment System 3. This means that you get Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and hands-free Bluetooth Connectivity, all on a 7-inch touchscreen. The catch here is that this trim only comes in white. Otherwise, it comes with all the standard features you’ll ever need, including standard Chevy Safety Assist, which includes five standard driver-assist features and ten airbags.

The LS trim adds on a better sound system, larger wheels, and a digital compass. You’ll also get an upgrade to a foldable front passenger seat. This helps to extend cargo space when you’re driving alone. As you move up to the LT trim, you’ll get all of these features, plus heated power mirrors, remote start, and LED fog lamps. The LT trim further offers heated seating, a ten-way power driver’s seat, and a hands-free power liftgate. This liftgate works as long as you’ve got your key fob handy. You’ll also get silver-painted roof rails, 17-inch black wheels, and seven different color options, including Pacific Blue and Scarlet Red metallic shades.

The ACTIV trim includes a standard larger engine, sport tires, and a dual exhaust. It’s made more for off-roading and trailering, so it includes off-road suspension and equipment made specifically for towing. It also includes a skid plate to keep it from bottoming out on rougher roads. You’ll also get fun little features on this model, like a center backseat armrest and a leather-covered steering wheel. Finally, the RS trim is the sportier counterpart to the ACTIV, offering 18-inch black wheels and a distinctive grille. In addition to these differences, the RS and ACTIVE trims include a variety of two-toned exterior color combinations.

The Trailblazer’s Technology

You’d assume that Chevy’s most affordable SUV option would also be basic. But that isn’t the case. This model’s tech features make travel fun and convenient. In addition to music streaming, the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer includes several built-in app options. These include the Weather Channel, Fox Sports, Spotify, and Pandora, to name just a few. Further, you can add in SiriusXM with 360L, which includes several sports stations and all your favorite music genres in one location. Those who use Amazon Alexa can control their home from their new SUV. Put simply, if you forget to turn out the lights, the Trailblazer has you covered. Just connect to your own personal Alexa device, and you’ll never have to worry about leaving the heat on again. Similarly, you can control your Trailblazer from your home via Alexa, commanding her to start your vehicle or adjust the A/C.

Safety and Security in the New Trailblazer

The Trailblazer comes with multiple driver-assist features. Here, we’ll go over each available option and review its purpose. First, we’ve got Forward Collision Alert with Automatic Emergency Braking. This feature keeps you from tailgating other vehicles, and it automatically brakes when your reactions aren’t quick enough. Front Pedestrian Braking works similarly, but it detects people rather than vehicles. This feature is effective when traveling below 50 mph, and it even works at nighttime and during foggy, rainy conditions. That said, you’ll still want to watch out for pedestrians on your own.

Another handy Trailblazer safety feature is Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning. Simply put, this system keeps you centered in your correct lane. This is unless you use your turn signal or purposefully go into another lane. However, you do have to keep your hands on the wheel, as this assist feature is meant to assist, not take over. Hopefully, Chevy will bring SuperCruise to the Trailblazer in the future so that it will be able to offer true hands-free driving.

The Trailblazer’s Following Distance Indicator works like Forward Collision Alert’s tailgating feature. The Rear Vision Camera helps with backing up, and Rear Park Assist notifies you if you’re getting too close to an object while doing so. There’s also an option for a rear HD camera for an added price. In addition to these features, Rear Cross Traffic Alert helps you when you’re in reverse as well. This safety addition can detect vehicles that are coming down the parking aisle behind you.

Finally, Teen Driver Mode is every guardian’s dream come true. This system allows drivers to set curfews, limit speeds and audio volumes, and even track the Trailblazer’s location. Speaking of teens, you also won’t have to worry about your young driver bright lighting anyone, thanks to IntelliBeam automatic headlights. This last driver-assist feature automatically controls your high-beam lights, which means you don’t have to keep up with controlling your brights anymore. Overall, Chevy proves itself to be one of the safest brands out there through the Trailblazer’s standard and available safety features.

Performance Matters!

This model is designed to get great fuel economy while providing plenty of room for cargo and passengers. This is why it includes a standard turbocharged 1.2-liter 3-cylinder engine. This produces 137 horses and 162 pound-feet of torque, getting up to 31 MPG on the highway. For those who want to tackle gravel roads or who are worried about poor weather conditions, an all-wheel drive option is available on all trims minus the L trim. If you choose all-wheel drive, the vehicle comes with an even more capable turbocharged 1.3-liter engine producing 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. Overall, the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer is a great SUV option for casual commuters and travelers.

Chevrolet Connected Services

You can use Chevy’s Connected Services on your new 2021 Chevy Trailblazer to gain ease of access. For example, the MyChevrolet app lets you remotely start this SUV. Plus, you can track down where you parked it or set boundary alerts if someone else is driving your new car. You’ll even get to see how well (or how poorly) you’ve been driving, thanks to Chevy’s Smart Driver report system. Technology is abundant in this model as is, but when you add Chevy Connect Services into the mix, you’re overflowing with convenience.
