Here’s Your 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ Buyer’s Guide

First released just last year, the Cadillac LYRIQ made an immediate splash with its slick design and impressive performance, not to mention all of the luxury and tech features we’ve come to expect from Cadillac. Now, in its second year since release, the model that you find at a Cadillac dealer near you has been improved and streamlined with three trim levels that make it easier to find exactly what you’re looking for. The features remain as impressive as ever, but the trims provide you with a simpler guide for figuring out what’s available and getting the things you want—there are still plenty of options on offer to take things even further if you’d like. Let’s take a look at what this EV brings to the road for 2024 and what each trim offers, so you can decide which one is right for you.

Basics for the 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ

Before we dig into some of the features you’ll find with the three available trim levels of the Cadillac LYRIQ, let’s go over some basics. First of all, the vehicle is an all-electric midsize SUV, so if you’re not interested in an EV, then this is not a great one to look at. If you’re interested in what an all-electric vehicle has to offer, however, then this model is one of the most exciting ones out there and beautifully highlights what the future of Cadillac’s lineup will look like.

For starters, you’ve got two different options for the motor system: either a single-motor model for rear-wheel drive (RWD) or a pair of motors for electric all-wheel drive (eAWD). I should note that both motor setups come with the same 102 kWh battery system, which is impressive, but it would be nice to see a second option with more power packed into it. The standard RWD single-motor setup offers 340 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque, while going with a dual-motor configuration for eAWD gets you an impressive 500 hp and 524 lb-ft of instant torque. Both options are good, but it’s pretty easy to see that the increased power of two motors is the way to go if you want the best performance possible—eAWD also makes EVs like the LYRIQ more fun to drive, so I’d go for that one.

I should note that you get a very slight difference in maximum range depending on which configuration you go with. A RWD model gets an estimated 314 miles of total range from a full charge, while eAWD models can go up to 307 miles from a full charge. Honestly, a difference of just seven miles is pretty negligible, and it’s probably something you’ll never experience in the real world, but it’s still worth keeping in mind. No matter which LYRIQ model you choose, you get support for Level 3 DC Fast Charging, which lets you get up to 77 miles of range from a 10-minute charge at a public station. Support for 11.5 kW Level 2 charging is standard, getting you up to 31 miles of range in about an hour of charging, while 19.2 kW Level 2 charging is available that boosts that up to about 51 miles of range from an hour of charging.

As you can see, the performance of any 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ is impressive, but there are some important differences to keep in mind. If you want that top-tier driving experience and the fastest charging times possible, then you’ll want a dual-motor model with support for 19.2 kW Level 2 charging. Since it is a midsize SUV, it has two rows of seating inside for up to five passengers, giving you plenty of room for friends and family. You get 28 cu.ft. of rear cargo space to take advantage of, with more than 60 cu.ft. of total cargo volume inside with the rear seats folded down. You can even tow up to 3,500 lbs behind a properly-equipped model, giving you more options for how you take stuff with you.

The 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ Tech

Now that we have a good sense of what the vehicle offers in general, let’s take a look at the three trim levels available, starting with the standard Tech trim. Only one Tech model is available, which makes things simple, and it has fantastic starting features like 20-inch wheels, an illuminated grille with Slimline LED lighting, and a fixed full glass roof. Animated exterior lighting welcomes you as you approach, plus you get heated, power-adjustable side mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators and a power liftgate with the Tech trim.

Inside, you’ll find a stunning 33-inch advanced color LED display across the front dashboard with Google built-in and phone integration for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Paired with this massive screen is a seven-speaker sound system, Inteluxe seating, and heated front seats with an eight-way power driver’s seat and six-way front passenger seat. You get a wireless phone charger inside the Tech trim, along with dual-zone automatic climate control, remote keyless entry functionality, and more.

The 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ Luxury

Next up, we have the Luxury trim, which actually has three different models available, giving you lots of options for the features you want. This can make choosing the right one a bit tricky, but it also gives you tremendous freedom as you pick the perfect SUV. The Luxury 1 model, for example, has a lot in common with the Tech but has improved exterior lighting choreography, power-folding side mirrors with puddle lamps, and more refined touches.

On the other hand, going with the Luxury 3 model gets you a number of enhancements, such as 22-inch Dynamic Split-Spoke Reverse Rim alloy wheels wrapped in all-season self-sealing tires. Inside, the Luxury 3 features numerous upgrades such as a 19-speaker AKG sound system with surround technology that includes speakers in the front-row seat head restraints. You also get Inteluxe seating with perforated inserts, heated and ventilated front seats with power lumbar massage, and heated second-row seats. Luxury 3 comes with GM’s innovative Super Cruise hands-free driving technology, compatible with over 400,000 miles of roads across North America, plus tri-zone automatic climate control and much more.

The 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ Sport

Finally, we have the Sport trim, which gives us a stunning vehicle that features a number of enhancements designed to elevate the looks of it. Much like the Luxury trim, the Sport is available in three different models, giving you plenty of options to get the perfect SUV with everything you want. The Sport 1, for example, features 20-inch Dynamic 12-spoke wheels with Diamond Cut/Satin Dark Android finish, plus a unique Sport illuminated front grille, dark body and side moldings, and illuminated body-color door handles.

For the ultimate expression of the Cadillac LYRIQ, the Sport 3 model combines everything beautifully with 22-inch Dynamic Split-Spoke Reverse Rim wheels in an After Midnight finish, dark exterior accents, and a hands-free power liftgate for easy loading and unloading of the rear cargo area. You can take the Sport 3 even further with an available Nappa Leather package that includes Nappa leather seats, soft-wrapped instrument panel and door trims, and illuminated front sill plates. There’s even an available panoramic power sunroof, which is perfect for those days when you want to relax and go for a drive.

Which Cadillac LYRIQ Has What You Want?

As you can see, the 2024 model gives you a lot of options to consider and choose from, particularly when you factor in the three models available for the Luxury and Sport trims. Choosing the right one can be tricky, so start with the big decisions and then work from there. Decide whether you want a single-motor RWD model or an eAWD version of the SUV (I’d suggest eAWD for the best performance), then look at the standard features of each trim. In general, they largely come down to some aesthetic differences initially, but then you can choose a lot more available options with the Luxury and Sport models. Take it one step at a time, narrowing down your options to get exactly what you want, and choosing the perfect option gets a lot easier.
