Chevrolet Enters the Next Decade with its Award-Winning 2020 Chevy Equinox

One of Chevy’s most award-winning models is the Chevy Equinox. The NHTSA gave the Chevy Equinox a 5-star rating for overall vehicle safety. J.D. Power and Associates named the 2019 Chevy Equinox the top compact SUV for initial quality based on the lowest rate of complaints, and the 2016 Chevy Equinox for vehicle dependability. Not to be outdone, Chevrolet has come out with the 2020 Chevy Equinox, featuring more standard safety and entertainment features than previous model years. The new 2020 Chevy Equinox still retains the dependability, driveability, affordability, and fuel efficiency we have all come to associate with Chevrolet’s small SUV.

Four Trims to Choose

The 2020 Chevy Equinox comes in four models, each of which gives you great value for your money at very reasonable prices so you won’t have a case of sticker shock. The base model is the Equinox L, with incredible value at an MSRP of $23,800. Sporting more standard features, including LED daytime running lights, is the Equinox LS, with an MSRP of $26,300. Want some more features? Check out the Equinox LT, with an MSRP of $27,500, featuring a power driver seat, high-intensity discharge headlamps, and heated driver and front passenger seats to keep you warm in the winter. The Premier is the ultimate in a small SUV, featuring 18-inch aluminum wheels, a hands-free power liftgate on the trunk, and driver and front passenger heated leather seats for incredible comfort. The Premier starts at a very affordable MSRP of $31,400.

A Powerful But Efficient Little Engine That Won’t Hurt You at the Pump

The standard engine on the 2020 Chevy Equinox is the 1.5-liter turbo engine. This engine efficiently uses its four cylinders to produce 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque, plenty of power for your Equinox. This engine comes standard with a 6-speed transmission.

Need some more power, especially if you’d like to do some trailering? The Equinox LT and Equinox Premier have an optional 2.0L turbo engine, which produces 252 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, allowing your Equinox to tow up to 3,500 pounds. The 2.0L turbo engine utilizes a 9-speed automatic transmission.

With all that power, the 2020 Chevy Equinox is still fuel-efficient. The EPA has estimated drivers of the 2020 Chevy Equinox to get 26 miles per gallon in city driving, 31 miles per gallon on the highway, and 28 miles per gallon combined. This is due to the Equinox’s unique, aerodynamic design.

Showing that the old adage good things come in small packages still holds true, the 2020 Chevy Equinox will provide you and your passengers with incomparable roominess.

The vehicle seats five very comfortably, with the front seat passengers enjoying 40 inches of headroom, 40.9 inches of legroom, and 57.2 inches of shoulder room. The Equinox’s 60/40 split-folding rear seat affords passengers a generous 38.5 inches of headroom, 39.9 inches of legroom, and 55.5 inches of shoulder room, so even your tallest passengers won’t feel cramped. Need to move some stuff? The 2020 Chevy Equinox has 63.9 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seat folded down. You’ll be amazed at all you can fit inside this compact SUV.

Chevy Sets the Standard for Safety

All 2020 Chevy Equinox SUVs come with Chevrolet’s Driver Confidence Package. This includes many safety features that are premium options on competitors’ comparable cars. The package includes automatic emergency braking, which senses if the car in front of you is braking and avoids or minimizes a collision by engaging the brakes. Lane keep assist with lane departure warning makes sure that you don’t accidentally drift into the adjacent lane.

At speeds below 50 miles per hour, the front pedestrian braking system will engage if it senses that there is a pedestrian in the path of your car. Chevy’s IntelliBeam headlamps automatically turn on your high beams if the system senses insufficient light from the low beam headlamps. The following distance indicator will alert you if you are driving too close to the car in front of you. Also included in the package are a rear vision camera, and plenty of airbags to keep you and your passengers safe in the unfortunate event of a collision.

Additional features are available as upgrades, including an HD rear vision camera, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and rear park assist.

The 2020 Chevy Equinox has standard front-wheel drive. The Equinox LT and Equinox Premier come with switchable all-wheel drive, allowing you to choose the option of all-wheel drive in certain situations. The front suspension of all 2020 Chevy Equinox SUVs features MacPherson struts for a smoother ride.
