A New Dawn Rises With the 2023 Nissan Sentra SR Midnight Edition

There is a saying that the darkest hour is right before the dawn. This is especially true when looking at the 2023 Nissan Sentra SR Midnight Edition, which brings a unique darkened design to the Sentra lineup. Nissan has taken the Sentra’s top trim and added specialized black accents to boost its looks, giving it a one-of-a-kind look that is all its own. What’s more, you get all the top features in the Sentra SR with a look unlike any other on the road. This is perfect for drivers who want to stand out in a world where every color is touted as “the new black.” With the Midnight Edition, black is the new black.

Nissan has been selling this iconic compact sedan for over 50 years, making it one of the longest-running models in the Nissan lineup. This is a testament to the quality of the Sentra, as it has withstood the ever-evolving tastes and styles of drivers throughout the years. Where many other automakers have bid farewell to their compact, midsize, and full-size sedan models, Nissan has continued to sell the Sentra, carefully fine-tuning it with every new model year. The 2023 Sentra is part of the eighth generation of this model, which was introduced for the 2020 model year, and shows no sign of ending.

A Closer Look at the Midnight Edition’s Stunning Darkened Exterior

The 2023 Nissan Sentra comes in three trims running from the entry-level S to the mid-level SV and top trim SR. The Midnight Edition is a special model built on the SR platform; however, where the other three trims come in up to 12 different exterior paint colors, the Sentra SR Midnight Edition comes in just one: Super Black. But with the Sentra SR Midnight Edition, do you really need any other color?

Unlike the other 2023 Sentra models, the SR Midnight Edition takes its attention to the color black to an entirely new level. Beyond the exterior paint color, the SR Midnight Edition has a black V-Motion front grille. This not only adds to its mystique but also does a good job of making the Sentra aerodynamic while assisting with the air intake of the car’s engine. The Sentra SR Midnight Edition also has a black rear spoiler that will help reduce air drag, giving you a better takeoff from a stopped position. There is also a rear diffuser, which helps make the SR Midnight Edition more aerodynamic, and yes, it’s also painted black.

To top off the darkened exterior theme, the 2023 Sentra SR Midnight Edition rides on a set of 18-inch black aluminum alloy wheels. These come wrapped with all-season tires, so your Sentra is all set for you, no matter what type of weather greets you on the road ahead. The SR Midnight Edition is the only 2023 Sentra model to feature these black aluminum wheels, which give the car an even sportier appearance.

It Also Features An Equally Stylish Interior

Nissan does an excellent job of carrying the ebony exterior appearance inside the SR Midnight Edition’s cabin. The steering wheel and transmission shift knob come wrapped in black leather. Not only does it look cool, but it provides an easy grip when operating the Sentra. The seats have a comfortable sport cloth trim which is contrasted with orange stitching. Maybe orange is the new black inside of the Midnight Edition.

There is plenty of room for up to five passengers to stretch out inside the cabin; in fact, Nissan has given this sporty compact an amazing 96 cu.ft. of passenger space. This includes 44 inches of legroom in the front bucket seats and 34.7 inches in the rear bench. This allows your passengers in the back to stretch and will probably leave them wondering if the Sentra really is a compact sedan model. Nissan has also provided a trunk with plenty of room for luggage and other belongings. In fact, the 2023 Sentra has an impressive 14.3 cu.ft. of space for cargo. That’s enough for everything from groceries, luggage, or the kid’s sports equipment.

The Sentra SR Midnight Edition features the larger and more advanced NissanConnect infotainment system on an 8-inch color touch-screen. In contrast, the S and SV models feature a smaller 7-inch screen. This lets you stay connected through Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto integration. You can stream your favorite apps and music or choose from the hundreds of stations on the SiriusXM satellite radio available on the SR Midnight Edition. There is a complimentary 3-month subscription to SiriusXM, so you can find your favorite programming to play through the Sentra’s 6-speaker audio system. However, Nissan takes no responsibility for any arguments that may break out between you and your passengers over your choice of music.

Great Performance Compliments the Midnight Edition’s Unique Design

All 2023 Nissan Sentra are front-wheel drive with the same standard engine, an exceptionally efficient 2.0-liter I-4 gasoline engine, paired with an Xtronic CVT transmission. This has a dual overhead camshaft configuration with 16 valves feeding the engine’s four cylinders. The engine features direct fuel injection and a continuously variable valve timing control system, which improves efficient performance.

As a result, it can deliver up to 149 hp and 146 lb-ft of torque. This can get your Sentra from 0 to 60 mph in a notable 9.2 seconds. While this won’t win any drag races, it will allow you to safely merge onto a busy highway without any worries. This amazingly efficient engine gives you 29 MPG in the city and 39 MPG on the highway. As a result, the 2023 Sentra represents an ideal compact sedan for your daily commute. Choosing the SR Midnight Edition allows you to complete it with style and comfort.

Nissan’s Innovative Safety Shield 360 Suite Is Standard

Nissan has equipped the 2023 Sentra with one of the most comprehensive sets of driver assistance features as part of the Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite. This includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, which will engage the brakes if a potential collision is imminent. Lane Departure Warning will let you know if you are drifting out of your lane, while the Blind Spot Warning will let you know if another vehicle is in your path. This tool, in particular, is a standard feature on the Sentra that many other automakers only offer as an advanced option on their compact sedans.

When you put your Sentra in reverse, the rearview monitor will let you see what is behind you. Rear Cross Traffic Alert will also scan for any other vehicles, objects, or pedestrians that may be in the path of your Sentra and alert you to a potential collision, an extremely useful feature that will keep an eye out for you when backing out of driveways and parking spots. High Beam Assist will adjust your lights accordingly to stay on while driving through dark areas with low visibility and shut them off when it approaches an oncoming vehicle.

The 2023 Nissan Sentra SR Midnight Edition also has Intelligent Cruise Control, allowing you to set a desired speed when traveling on a highway, which your Sentra will maintain. If traffic slows or a slower vehicle enters your lane, the Intelligent Cruise Control will automatically reduce your speed accordingly to avoid a collision. Once the slower vehicle exits or traffic picks up, the system will return your Sentra to your desired speed. This feature makes utilizing cruise control safer and easier while reducing driver fatigue.
