The midsize SUV market is incredibly popular – one could even say it’s a bit overcrowded, and that wouldn’t be a particularly controversial statement. With so many options available to you, it can be tricky to figure out which one is right. Even once you do, you then have to consider the trim levels and other options available to you. Looking at the 2021 Chevy Blazer, for example, there are half a dozen different trims available, with some significant differences between them.
Today, I’m going to help you out and take you through the various Blazer trims to see what each of them has to offer. I can’t tell you exactly which one is right for you since I don’t know what you’re looking for – but I can give you enough info to make it easy for you to choose the right one. No matter which 2021 Chevy Blazer you choose, you’re going to get a great ride, but there are some major differences between some of these trims. So picking the right one really is important.
2021 Chevy Blazer Overview
Before I dig into the different trim levels of the 2021 Chevy Blazer and what they each entail, let’s take a moment to look at what the Blazer offers, in general. This is a midsize SUV, as I said before, with seating for up to five people across two rows. You get about 64.2 cu.ft. of total cargo space behind the front seats, with about 30.5 cu.ft. of cargo space in the rear area behind the seats. That gives you a lot of space for your passengers, as well as plenty of room for shopping bags, luggage, coolers and camping supplies, or anything else you need to take with you.
Along with the six different trims available for the Blazer, there are also three different engines, though they’re all based on which trim you choose, so you don’t have absolute freedom to mix and match. Still, there is quite a lot of flexibility for you when looking at the options available to make sure you get what you need. Every model comes with front-wheel drive standard, but you can get all-wheel drive on almost all trims, so keep that in mind.
2021 Chevy Blazer L
The L is the starting trim for the 2021 Chevy Blazer and is essentially the baseline for what you can get on this model. It has one engine available: the standard 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that offers up to 193 hp and up to 188 lb-ft of torque, which comes paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. It has an automatic stop/start to optimize fuel economy, which can be deactivated if you prefer not to use this feature. You get 18-inch wheels on the Blazer L, with LED taillamps, body-color and heated outside mirrors, and a manual liftgate.
Inside the Blazer L, you get an 8-inch infotainment display, with a 6-speaker audio system and active noise cancellation. The L has cloth seating, with a 6-way manual driver’s seat and 4-way front-passenger seat, plus several USB ports in the front. It has a standard steering wheel, a 4-inch driver information center, keyless open and start, cruise control, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The Blazer L features a comprehensive airbag system, HD rear vision camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system with tire fill alert.
2021 Chevy Blazer 1LT
The first of three LT trims for the 2021 Chevy Blazer, the 1LT features the same engine as the standard L model, giving you essentially the same performance. You get a handful of nicer features in the 1LT, however, including an 8-way power driver seat with 2-way power lumbar. There are also numerous options available with the 1LT that you can’t get with the L, including 20-inch wheels, the Midnight/Sport edition with black details, and heated front seats. There are also a number of safety systems available for the 1LT, such as a Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and a Rear Park Assist, which you can’t get on the L.
2021 Chevy Blazer 2LT
If you want a more powerful engine, then the 2LT is a great place to start: it comes with a 2.0L Turbo 4-cylinder engine that offers up to 227 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. There’s also an available 3.6L V6 engine that delivers up to 308 hp and up to 270 lb-ft of torque for excellent power; both engines come with a 9-speed automatic transmission. As you can see, this is quite a bit more powerful than the previous options, even with the 2LT’s standard engine.
The 2021 Chevy Blazer 2LT also includes a number of safety features such as Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, a Following Distance Indicator, and Automatic Emergency Braking. You also get a Forward Collision Alert, with available safety features that include a Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Park Assist, and Lane Change Alert. A power programmable liftgate is also available for the 2LT, though it’s not standard.
2021 Chevy Blazer 3LT
Last among the LT models, the Blazer 3LT improves upon the 2LT, with the same great standard and available engines, plus additional features throughout. For example, the 3LT includes a 6-way power front-passenger seat, with perforated leather-appointed seating and heated front seats. The Chevy Blazer 3LT comes with a power programmable liftgate, standard, along with all of the standard and available safety features of the 2LT included – even a Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Rear Park Assist. A rear camera mirror is available for the 3LT but not standard.
2021 Chevy Blazer RS
The 2021 Chevy Blazer RS is a fantastic choice if performance is your top priority, as it comes with the impressive 3.6L V6 engine standard – the only trim level that does so. It has unique black exterior accents, with unique 20-inch wheels and 21-inch wheels available. The RS features black perforated leather-appointed seating, with red accents for a little something extra, and it includes all of the great safety features of the 3LT. You get a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel in the RS with an 8-inch driver information center, plus ambient interior lighting and a hands-free gesture liftgate. Additional safety features like an HD Surround Vision camera system, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking are available.
2021 Chevy Blazer Premier
Finally, the Premier is similar to the RS but puts more emphasis on luxury. The 3.6L V6 engine is available, but the 2.0L Turbo comes standard, with 20-inch wheels and 21-inch wheels available. The Premier includes Navigation with the 8-inch infotainment display, along with a Bose premium 8-speaker audio system, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and memory settings for the driver’s seat, outside mirrors, and steering column. It has interior ambient lighting and the same fantastic standard and available safety features as the RS.
Final Considerations
As you can see, while any 2021 Chevy Blazer is a great midsize SUV, there are certainly some key differences as you move up the trim levels. For the best choice on a budget, the L or 1LT is the way to go, while the 2LT and 3LT give you a lot of freedom in terms of performance, luxury, and technology.
