Shopping for a car can take a lot of work and often feels overwhelming, especially when you first get started. One of the biggest decisions that can make your life easier is deciding on which manufacturer has the models and features that seem right for you. If you’re interested in an Electric Vehicle (EV), then you might be wondering which sort of electric car dealer you should choose. While there are a number of good options, today, I’m going to take you through what Chevrolet has to offer and why it’s likely to be the right choice for you.
Although you have quite a few options available to you, Chevy is a great choice if you’re looking for an electric car dealer. Not only has Chevrolet proven it’s committed to offering more EV models going forward, but its track record is also great. If you’re shopping right now, then I strongly consider you look at the Chevy Bolt EV and the Chevy Bolt EUV, which represent excellent and affordable electric options. And things are only going to get better with the Chevy EV lineup, which makes a Chevrolet dealership a great choice for your next electric car.
The Chevy Bolt EV
For the past few years, the Bolt EV has really been the heart of Chevy’s electric car options, and while it’s getting some impressive company, it’s still a great choice when shopping at an electric car dealer. The latest Bolt EV for 2022 has been redesigned and updated with a number of excellent features that make it better than ever before. It retains its sleek and sporty hatchback design and offers some of the best and most affordable EV functionality on the market.
Although there are EV models out there with more power and range, the Chevy Bolt EV offers excellent performance at a very reasonable price. So while you can get more powerful vehicles, they can cost twice as much – or even more. With the 2022 Bolt EV, you get an electric motor that delivers 200 hp with instant acceleration that makes it a lot of fun to drive. It has up to 259 miles of range on a full charge, with support for DC Fast Charging and easy at-home charging.
The hatchback design of the Bolt EV has been very popular since it gives you just under 57 cu.ft. of total interior space, which you can easily access and utilize. It features both an 8-inch digital driver cluster and a 10-inch infotainment display, but it has a more traditional interior rather than the sparse feel of some other EV models. But with regenerative braking and One Pedal Driving mode, you really get everything you could want with an EV model.
The Chevy Bolt EUV
While Chevy has a number of electric models in the works, the other EV that you’ll find at an electric car dealer this year is the 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV. This is an Electric Utility Vehicle created with more of an SUV or crossover design, using the same platform as the already-popular Bolt EV. So if you like what the Bolt EV has to offer, but you prefer more passenger space inside and a crossover shape rather than a hatchback, then check this one out.
In terms of performance, the all-new Bolt EUV uses the same platform and power system as the Bolt EV, so they’re pretty much identical here. It has the same motor and batteries, with about 250 miles of range on a full charge and a one-pedal driving mode to make driving easier and help boost its regenerative braking functionality. Right now, the Bolt EUV is only available with front-wheel drive, like the Bolt EV, but most people are speculating that an all-wheel drive version will be available in the future.
One of the aspects of the Bolt EUV that has a lot of people really excited is the impressive suite of safety features that it can come with. Advanced technology like Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, and a Lane Keep Assist system with Lane Departure Warning are all standard on the Bolt EUV. Even better, GM’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system will be available on the Bolt EUV, which marks the first time it’s being offered on a Chevy model. So if you want great performance, impressive technology, and the latest safety systems from Chevy and GM, the Bolt EUV is a fantastic choice.
Chevy’s Electric Future
Of course, Chevy has never been a brand to rest on its laurels, and getting into the EV market is certainly not going to change that. The Bolt EV has been its flagship model in this regard for several years, but that’s already starting to change with the Bolt EUV. And this is only the beginning; since the Bolt EUV was built on the same platform as the Bolt EV, Chevy was able to get it done quickly. But they have more plans for EV offerings in the years to come.
Perhaps the most noteworthy vehicle that Chevy has talked about being in development is an electric truck of some kind. Now, I say “of some kind” because details on this EV pickup are frustratingly scarce – pretty much all we know is that something is in the works. Chevy hasn’t even said if it will be a full-size or midsize model, and there haven’t been any big displays or press events like we’ve seen with the Tesla Cybertruck and the Ford Electric F-150.
That being said, since whatever Chevy is making will have to compete with those two aforementioned pickups, it’s a pretty safe bet that they’re working on an electric version of the popular, full-size Silverado. There’s a chance that they’d want their first foray into EV pickup design to be a midsize model since it would make concerns about battery life and range easier to handle. But I think that would be overshadowed by what their competitors have done – especially the electric F-150.
For now, however, we’ll have to be patient and wait for more information to come out of GM regarding the future of Chevy’s EV lineup. GM has made a serious commitment to offering more than a dozen EV models across its various brands in the next few years, and Chevrolet is certain to play a major part in that. So an electric Silverado will likely be their next major play in this market, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we get an EV Camaro or Stingray at some point in the future. Since we just recently got the mid-engine Corvette, my money is on an EV Camaro as something we’ll see sooner rather than later.
Choosing the Right Dealership
With car-shopping already being something that requires a fair amount of time, energy, and patience, the last thing you want is the need to hop from dealership to dealership. Choosing the right electric car dealer to begin with, can make your life a lot easier and greatly improve your experience while shopping for an EV model. New names like Tesla get a lot of attention, but they’re also incredibly expensive. A Chevy dealership is a great option for finding affordable and impressive EV models that are part of an automotive legacy going back more than 100 years.
