Why the Versatile 2024 Ford Explorer Is the Ideal SUV for a Variety of Drivers

For over 30 years, the Ford Explorer has led the charge in making SUVs some of the most popular vehicles on the road, and for good reason. From its spacious interior to its ability to tackle inclement weather with ease, the Explorer has been the transportation of choice for everyone from large families to solo commuters. The 2024 Ford Explorer continues this trend by allowing drivers from all walks of life with impressive passenger and cargo volume, rugged performance, and an assortment of features to keep you safe, comfortable, and connected on the road. Let’s take a closer look at this iconic Ford SUV and why it might be the perfect option for your next vehicle.

A Look at the 2024 Ford Explorer

One of the best things about this reliable vehicle is its affordable price tag, with the starting MSRP coming in at $36,860. It is a fantastic SUV for large families and those looking for a spacious interior, as the 2024 Explorer can carry up to seven people and offer up to 87.8 cu.ft. of storage space. Plus, it can tow up to 5,600 lbs when properly equipped. It has two engine options, the 2.3L EcoBoost Turbo I-4 and the 3.0L EcoBoost Turbo V6, with a 10-speed automatic transmission that can get you up to 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque.

The Explorer is full of great features that easily set itself apart from its 3-row SUV competitors. Special features like colorful ambient lighting, a B&O sound system with 12 speakers and a subwoofer, a twin-panel moonroof, and technology that will impress (which we will talk about more in a second) are sure to get you excited enough for a test drive. Though, I’m not sure you will want to leave it once you do, not to mention the exterior features that make life in general more convenient.

Getting a car that works for you is your best investment. For example, the adaptive LED headlamps adjust to the movement of your car, which is great for excellent visibility. The power liftgate is also a personal favorite, as even if your hands are full, the trunk will open, so it is one less thing you have to worry about while packing the car for a fun weekend getaway.

If you’re looking for your next ride, we can all agree on how significant technology is, especially nowadays. One of the best technology features of this Ford is the Trailer Sway Control, which offers peace of mind as it alters engine output for stability while towing. Of course, there is a touchscreen that is completely customizable and is available in a 10.1-inch version. It connects to compatible smartphones and androids, plus it is suited with the Ford+Alexa App that lets you conveniently take back control during long and short commutes. The available wireless charging isn’t bad either, nor is all of the safety you get using cameras and sensors to detect potential crashes before they happen.

An Extensive Selection of Trim Options

There’s even more to love, with eight different trim options available. Each one offers unique features and benefits that will only get better the higher you go on the list. For this 2024 year, the Explorer lineup will obviously have the base Explorer trim that offers all of the standard features with basic technology and safety equipment. This is also the most affordable of the options; however, this is also one of the most affordable SUVs out there, so there is nowhere to go but up and receive greatness. Then you have other trims, including the XLT, ST-Line, Timberline, Limited, ST, King Ranch, and Platinum trim. The sheer number of choices may seem a bit overwhelming, so let’s take a closer look at some standout trims.

The Explorer ST-Line is a few steps up from the base model and features a towing capacity of 5,300 lbs. The maximum weight of 5,600 lbs comes with the other trim options. It also has ActiveX, a premium and sporty upholstery for your seating pleasure, with Miko red stitching and inserts. Plus, 20-inch Aluminum wheels so you can sit high. Next, the King Ranch comes in with a bold style and a passion for exploring. It features 20-inch Aluminum wheels and a King Ranch center cap. And if you’re looking for comfort, consider the King Ranch trim, as it comes with Del Rio Leather and Lasso-Perforated inserts. The Explorer ST perhaps offers the most unique feature, which comes in the form of a trip to the Ford ST SUV Experience Driving School.

Other key features that stand out on this trim are the Quad Chrome exhaust tips, a standard 3.0L V6 EcoBoost engine that offers an impressive 400 hp and 415 lb-ft, and a higher towing capability of 5,600 lbs. The Limited has a drawback, even though it costs a bit more than the others. However, this drawback is slight and occurs on the base and ST-Line model as the towing capacity is only at the max of 5,300 lbs. The key feature here is the B&O sound system by Bang and Olufsen, the 12-speaker sound system with a subwoofer. Finally, we have the Platinum, with a starting MSRP of $54,770. This trim can hold a maximum of 5,600 lbs and, like the rest, can seat up to seven. However, what matters here is the Satin Aluminum Finish Grille and 21-inch wheels with Luster Nickel-Painted Pockets, along with leather upholstery throughout the interior for a truly luxurious driving experience.

Maintenance and Value

I don’t know about you, but I am certainly impressed when I come across a reasonably priced SUV with great reviews, as it has had previous years in the best-sellers category and also has less-than-average unscheduled maintenance requirements or visits. Compared to other SUVs, this is definitely a bonus as it will save money in the long run and, on average, has cheaper monthly insurance payments. In today’s economy, that sounds like a great deal, especially if you are also looking to stay within a specific budget. This is a great value purchase for its long lifespan, easy maintenance, and desirable features.

Average payments will range based on your personal history, and other factors, as we all know, affect car buying; however, there are special promotions for buying specific trims like the ST-Line. However, check up on that complimentary trip as fast as you can because who knows when they will close that deal. Remember, when you buy a 2024 Ford Explorer, you are investing in a future with a higher chance of staying within budget, being versatile for all of your driving needs, and staying dependable so you can stay on the road longer. Ford has proven itself in offering some of the best SUV models on the market today, and the Explorer demonstrates this dedication to the fullest. Whether you’re hunting for a spacious vehicle for your growing family or want to get behind the wheel of a tech-filled SUV to make those daily trips to work a lot more enjoyable, you’ll find here in the exciting 2024 Ford Explorer.
