When it comes to choosing your next vehicle, understanding your options will help you make the best decision possible. Between trims, packages, and special editions, the sheer amount of decisions to make can become overwhelming fast. Exploring what makes each trim unique is one of the best ways to narrow down your search. With the 2024 Chevy Traverse, there are a handful of exciting trims, each with special features that set them apart.
The newest addition to the Chevy Traverse nameplate comes in four trims. While some of the trims carry over from the previous year, there are others that bring a whole new level of excitement to the new year. The Traverse is available in the LS, LT, Z71, and RS, expanding the range of what it is capable of.
The Whole Ball of Wax
While some things set the trims apart, there are other things that tie them all together. Overall, the Traverse is roomy and comfortable, providing ample cargo space. With second and third rows folded flat, the Traverse offers a best-in-class 98 cu.-ft. of cargo room in whichever trim you choose. If you are looking to change how you use your Traverse, the 60/40 folding rear seat is your answer.
All trims come standard with an oversized 17.7-inch infotainment screen. This bad boy claws its way to the top, claiming another best-in-class for the Traverse. The diagonal infotainment display flows somewhat seamlessly into the rather large Driver Information Display, creating a clean sweep of technology at the forefront. You can expect plenty of exciting infotainment features, including available Wi-Fi Hotspot capability and Wireless Phone Charging.
There is one engine to rule them all, and it comes in the form of a 4-cylinder turbo. Mated with an 8-speed, the Traverse is geared up to give you an estimated 315 hp. Working with 317 lb-ft of torque, the Traverse uses its muscle to tow up to 5,000 lbs when properly equipped. This well-planned setup of spacious comfort, techy tools, and towing prowess seems to equal one enjoyable weekend getaway. Whether riding solo or toting the family, the Traverse offers everything you could need to make everyone happy.
Everything You Need to Know About the LS
The LS is considered the base trim of the Traverse, but there is nothing basic about it. The LS uses the Traverse’s barge-like size to its advantage, offering the most standard seating of the line-up. With three rows of seating, two of them in the form of benches, the LS can comfortably seat eight. The interior is made of soft, premium cloth material in a calming Jet Black. Comfortable and easy to clean, the Traverse is ideal for large families.
A host of safety and driver assistance features also come standard on the LS, including the HD Rear Vision Camera. The camera gives you a clear view of what’s going on behind you and works with the Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Braking safety program to lessen your chance of impact. Other systems watch your side and front, improving overall driver confidence.
What the LT Offers
One step up from the LS, the LT introduces a few extras to sweeten the deal. The driver gets a power-adjustable seat that includes lumbar support to ease those aching muscles. A Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel adds some extra refinement to the trim and goes great with the available Jet Black EvoTex upholstery. EvoTex is a synthetic “leather” that provides elegance without impact.
The LT is also offered in the same soft Jet Black Cloth interior as the LS. Better yet, switch things up and try out the Jet Black paired with Gideon and Very Dark Atmosphere accents for a stunning contrast. The latter presents a modern look for those who enjoy that styling. The LT comes standard with Second-Row Smart Slide seating, which makes getting in and out easier, limiting the discomfort of crawling out from a back seat.
You can expect comfortable seating for seven rather than the eight of the LS. This is due to the swap out of the second row for spacious Captain’s Chairs. However, if you are longing for that eighth seat, then have no fear because the Captain’s Chairs can be replaced with the second-row bench seat. This trim also gets treated to the Power liftgate, which is presence-based. This means the liftgate is set to open when it senses you near, limiting your need for keys.
The All-New Z71
The beefy Z71 trim, a first for the Traverse, is a super exciting addition for this model year. Inside, you will get treated to a Jet Black and Torch Red color theme, with seating decked out in the premium EvoTex material. This racy color scheme is a precursor to what you get on the road. Outside, the Z71 gets a new sporty grille that lends a bold look to the already impressive-looking Traverse.
The Z71 is designed to break beyond the road, taking you to destinations unknown. A wider stance and improved ground clearance allow you to tackle adverse terrain effectively. With an improved approach and an Aluminum Skid Plate, rocky terrain is easier to manage. Underpinning the Z71 is specially tuned Off-Road Suspension that uses distinct dampers for a more comfortable and absorbent drive. This is aided by the chunky all-terrain tires designed to grip and grab along the way.
AWD and a twin-clutch give you a smoother transmission engagement for off-road obstacles, providing more control and supporting the Traverse’s towing abilities. With red tow hooks and standard trailing tech, the Z71 does not shy away from a challenge. As the latest addition to the Traverse family, the Z71 is a happy and rugged addition.
The Returning Champ – The RS
The RS trim returns from last year, claiming its rightful place as the top trim. The RS mimics the styling of the Z71 inside and out, with a few upgrades. Outside, the same flashy sports grille adorns the front and is matched with gloss-black roof rails and wheels for a cohesive and bold look. Of course, the RS also sports unique RS badging to distinguish it from the crowd.
Inside, the Jet Black and Torch Red color scheme carries throughout for an exciting tone. As the big dog, the RS swaps out the synthetic leather style material for perforated leather, providing a more luxurious feel. The flat-bottomed steering wheel is sport-esque, adding a nice finish to the overall look. A sunroof comes standard, opening up the already large interior, and a one-touch power-folding function improves accessibility to the rear seat.
The RS does not just look; it has a distinct suspension designed to provide a thrilling drive and comfortable handling. Trailering goodies are also standard here, making the RS more than a one-trick pony. From hood to liftgate, the RS is a familiar and pleasant addition to this year’s line-up, with just the right amount of new freshness.
