So Many Trims, So Much Time; Meet the 2023 Toyota Camry’s Trim Lineup

Everyone loves options. That’s why when we go to ice cream shops, we like the ones that serve more than just the vanilla and chocolate flavors. Having choices is a huge part of what makes buying a vehicle fun and personal for most people. Our love for options is reflected by how auto manufacturers go out of their way to provide an array of models, trims, and packages for every type of vehicle and every type of driver. The sheer volume of choices can often be overwhelming for those looking for that perfect vehicle, but ultimately this is a great thing! It allows consumers to find a vehicle that caters to their driving needs. With today’s vehicle market, compromising for a subpar set of wheels is no longer a scenario in the car-buying process.

Choice is the name of the game when searching for a new vehicle. From different exterior colors to different interior features and even wheel and tire options, buying a car is more of a creative process now than before. Perhaps one of the best examples of this seemingly endless selection of model trims in the midsize sedan category is the 2023 Toyota Camry. Its latest model year lineup has a whopping 13 trims to select from, giving drivers a plethora of options uniquely designed for their needs. For those in the market for an efficient sedan, we invite you to continue reading and find out why the 2023 Toyota Camry’s trim lineup offers choices like no other.

Choices, Choices, and More Choices

With 13 trims, finding that perfect Camry is within reach but can also be a bit overwhelming with all that is offered. Let’s break down all the available trims and how they cover a spectrum of what drivers want from a midsize sedan.

The 2023 Camry LE

The Luxury Edition, or LE, is your basic Camry trim. It’s a great entry-level trim, and because Toyota doesn’t believe in short-changing their customers, they have given the Camry LE a couple of upgrades you don’t typically see on base-level sedans. The Camry LE comes with a 7-inch infotainment screen that is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible. It’s also equipped with an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, which you don’t typically see on entry-level trims. The LE also comes with Toyota Safety Sense, a set of safety and driver assist technology featuring a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert, and automatic high beams. You also get dual-zone climate control and the option for all-wheel drive. This may be the first trim in this extensive lineup, but it’s anything but basic.

The 2023 Camry LE Hybrid

The LE Hybrid edition is like the LE, but offers a few extra noteworthy features, not to mention its outstanding fuel efficiency. Along with the Safety Sense features and an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, LE Hybrid drivers can expect to switch between four driving modes. This includes EV (Electric Vehicle) mode, which allows you to get the most fuel efficiency out of your hybrid engine. Speaking of which, this hybrid trim gets an impressive EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 51 MPG in the city and 53 MPG on the highway. While it is a more base-level hybrid, you can rest assured that the LE Hybrid will keep you away from the pump longer with money in your wallet.

The 2023 Toyota Camry SE

The SE is the next step up, including everything we loved about the LE trim and more. The SE gets upgraded with 18-inch black machined-finish alloy wheels and a special front SE grille for the exterior, and in the interior, you get comfier front seats with Sport SofTex trimming. Under the chassis of the Camry, the SE trim has a specifically tuned suspension system built to handle quick starts and stops smoother than the standard suspension. The Sport Edition of the Camry is precisely what it sounds like; a sportier and edgier version of the Camry for our speed-loving drivers.

The 2023 Toyota Camry SE Hybrid

We love that Toyota gives drivers the option to have most of these trims with a hybrid engine. Not all manufacturers are willing to go to this length for fuel efficiency, so the fact that Toyota is making this effort tells us a lot about them being in tune with consumers’ needs. For this one, there’s not much difference from the SE for the standard engine besides the fact that it’s a hybrid. So you still get that incredible sport-tuned suspension and upgraded interior to enjoy in a hybrid version. This hybrid version of the Camry gets an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 44 MPG in the city and 47 MPG on the highway. Not bad for anyone looking for a reliable, fuel-efficient commuter.

The 2023 Toyota Camry SE Nightshade and SE Nightshade Hybrid

If you’re into dark and mysterious, then the Nightshade trim is for you. This special edition of the sport edition trim is a great combination of being both sporty and sleek. This trim comes with 19-inch bronze alloy wheels, a specialty black grille, mirror caps, and color-keyed side rocker panels. Like the SE trim, the SE Nightshade comes with SofTex seats and suspension designed specifically for sport use. As the name suggests, the SE Nightshade Hybrid is, yes, the hybrid version of this trim, offering an estimated 44 MPG in the city and 47 MPG on the highway.

The 2023 Toyota Camry XLE and XLE Hybrid

The Executive Luxury Edition of the 2023 Camry has everything you would expect a leader to have in a vehicle. The infotainment system gets a complete overhaul, increasing from 7 inches to 9 inches, and the seats are upgraded to heated leather with power lumbar support. You also get the smart key system with push button start and wireless smartphone charging. It also comes equipped with blindspot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. This exceptional trim is available in a hybrid option and gets the same EPA-estimated fuel economy numbers as the previous SE and Nightshade Hybrid trims.

The 2023 Toyota Camry XSE

The Executive Sport Edition comes with all the perks of the sport trims and then some. It comes with the specialty sport-tuned suspension, a dual exhaust with quad chrome tips, and multi-stage ventilated leather-trimmed front seats. It also has the wireless smartphone charging set up and the ability to have spoilers added on.

The 2023 Toyota Camry XSE Hybrid

The XSE hybrid is pretty similar to the standard, but it does cost more, as the hybrid trims tend to do. It only comes with one exhaust tip, as it would defeat the purpose of the hybrid engine if you were pumping out two times more exhaust into the air. It also doesn’t come standard with the multi-stage ventilated seats, but those are available as an option. It does come with the various drive modes, making it a trim to consider for those who like the features of the XSE but still prioritize fuel efficiency. Regarding efficiency, it gets the same MPG as the last few hybrid models mentioned.

The 2023 Toyota Camry TRD

The TRD is Toyota’s Racing Development trim, and it comes with TRD matte-black alloy wheels, a gloss-black front grille, and other sport-specific features like pinstriping on the sides, a spoiler, and aero skirts. It also comes with suspension, coils, and springs tuned to handle racing speeds and road feedback. It has stabilizer bars and a different brake setup, allowing it to be more capable on the road at high speeds. Like to drive fast? Say hello to the TRD.

The 2023 Toyota Camry XLE V6

This trim is similar to the XLE but has a little more to it. This version of the XLE comes with Audio Plus with JBL speakers, a panoramic glass roof with front power tilt/slide moonroof, a 10-inch color head-up display, and the ability to toggle between drive modes using a 3-mode switch. As the name suggests, it comes standard with a 3.5L V6 ENGINE.

The 2023 Toyota Camry XSE V6

Our last and final trim offers the best in luxury and performance that the Camry has to offer. It has the panoramic glass roof, the upgraded Audio Plus system with JBL speakers, and the head-up display. It also has upgraded 19-inch gloss-black wheels and dual exhaust chrome tips. The trim also offers the ultimate front seat comfort with leather-trimmed multi-stage heated front seats, a leather-trimmed steering wheel equipped with paddle shifters, a multi-information display, plus dynamic radar cruise control and lane departure alert controls.

So, Which Camry Are You?

Of all the 2023 Camry trims available, our favorite is probably the SE. This trim gives you a lot of really nice upgrades while still staying affordable. Much like driving, we don’t want to pay an arm and a leg for a great experience, and for its reasonable price tag of $27,485, we feel like the SE is the best-valued trim available for the 2023 Camry lineup. But that’s just our opinion. Toyota has given the 2023 Camry such a rich selection of trims that it is truly designed to fit any driver’s need or budget.
