Navigating the INFINITI Lineup

When shopping for a car, sometimes it helps to look up specific models and see what they offer or to compare different options in a certain class. Other times, however, I find it helpful to look at a particular brand and consider their lineup in total. If you’re interested in a luxury car or SUV, then INFINITI is one of your best options on the market, and they have a lot to offer. One thing I particularly like about INFINITI is that they have plenty of options without going overboard––I like having different models to choose from, but some brands take it to excess.

With the INFINITI lineup, you have six different vehicles available: a sedan, a coupe, and four SUVs. This creates a selection that has something for just about everyone while not diluting what they provide in a way that makes it hard to find what you’re looking for. The way INFINITI names its vehicles makes things even easier: the models labeled “Q” are cars and “QX” are SUVs. Let’s see what Nissan’s luxury brand can deliver.

INFINITI Cars

The INFINITI Q50

Starting things off, the INFINITI Q50 is a compact sedan designed to be a luxurious and comfortable four-door ride. For the 2022 model year, the Q50 features a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 engine that delivers an impressive 300 hp, paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission. If you choose a Q50 RED SPORT 400 model, however, then you get the same engine tuned to deliver 400 hp instead, with dual exhaust tips featuring a brushed satin finish that looks elegant and provides impressive performance.

Inside the Q50, you’ll find a stunning combination of luxury and advanced technology, starting with INFINITI’s zero-gravity seating that’s incredibly comfortable. The leather-appointed interior options look and feel excellent, and wireless Apple CarPlay compatibility is standard on every model for 2022. A Bose Performance Series 16-speaker sound system is standard on every trim now, plus you get dual high-definition displays for all of your infotainment needs.

The INFINITI Q60

If you’re looking for the elegance and sophistication of the Q50, but you want more of a sports car feel, then check out the INFINITI Q60, which is a two-door coupe designed for amazing performance. Much like the Q50, the Q60 features a standard 3.0L twin-turbo V6 engine that delivers 300 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, which comes paired with a 7-speed automatic. There’s a RED SPORT 400 model available for the Q60 too, which boosts the engine up to 400 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. Plus, with the INFINITI Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, you get an exhilarating driving experience with excellent control and grip.

Much like with the Q50, support for wireless Apple CarPlay is standard on the 2022 INFINITI Q60, along with a high-definition dual-screen infotainment display for excellent overall functionality. The standard Q60 PURE trim features brushed aluminum interior accents, leatherette-appointed seating, and much more. Going with the Q60 LUXE or RED SPORT 400 trims, however, gets you semi-aniline leather-appointed seating, with gorgeous options like Gallery White leather with Red and Gray stitching and a Bose Performance Series 13-speaker sound system is also standard on these two trims.

INFINITI Crossovers/SUVs

The INFINITI QX50

Looking at INFINITI’s crossovers, we’ll start with the QX50, which is a compact luxury crossover model that’s proven one of their most popular options. The QX50 is powered by an impressive engine designed to deliver both satisfying performance and remarkable fuel efficiency. The award-winning Variable-Compression Turbocharged (VC-Turbo) engine in the QX50 provides you with 268 hp, and an estimated 26 MPG combined fuel economy. Front-wheel drive is standard, but Intelligent All-Wheel Drive is available for added control.

Five different trims are available for the QX50, with the second LUXE trim providing you with 4-way driver power lumbar adjustment, auto-folding heated outside mirrors, and leather-appointed seating. Higher trims give you a Bose Performance Series 16-speaker sound system, climate-controlled seating, and much more. You can also get semi-aniline leather-appointed seats, a motion-activated liftgate, and additional touches like natural open-pore maple wood accents. Best of all, for 2022, all QX50 models now come with advanced safety features like a Blind Spot Warning and Intervention system, Forward Emergency Braking, and much more.

The INFINITI QX55

If you like the QX50 but you want something with a sportier design, then the INFINITI QX55 is a fantastic option. This is a compact model like the QX50, but it has a coupe-inspired look with two doors and a sloping rear roofline that feels like a sports car. It features the same impressive VC-Turbo engine as the QX50, giving you 268 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque, paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with shift-by-wire technology that provides near-instant responses to your driving, along with paddle shifters to keep you in control. INFINITI’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive is standard on every QX55 model here in the US, which responds to slipping by adjusting power to the wheels to keep you in control.

Unlike the QX50, the INFINITI QX55 only has three trims available, which keeps things a bit simpler and more streamlined. Standard features include auto-folding heated outside mirrors and 4-way driver power lumbar adjustment. You also get a dual-screen display up front––an 8-inch screen above a 7-inch display––plus support for wireless Apple CarPlay standard on every model. For the 2023 model year, every QX55 now has the ProPILOT Assist system featuring Intelligent Cruise Control including Full-Speed Range and Hold with Steering Assist to make driving in traffic less demanding.

The INFINITI QX60

For a larger crossover option, the INFINITI QX60 is a midsize luxury crossover SUV that’s built on the same platform as the Nissan Pathfinder and offers seating for seven passengers. The QX60 just launched a new generation with the all-new 2022 model that includes a wide range of upgrades and new features inside and out. With the 2022 INFINITI QX60, you get a 3.5L V6 engine that delivers 295 hp, which comes paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and has available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive.

The new generation for the QX60 includes major updates to the interior with fantastic standard features that include INFINITI’s incredible 8-way power-adjustable zero-gravity front seats with power lumbar adjustments. Every model features a 12.3-inch infotainment display, along with wireless Apple CarPlay compatibility, leather-appointed seating, and a panoramic moonroof. Higher trims add fantastic available features, including a wireless phone charger, Bose Performance Series 17-speaker sound system, and a 10.8-inch head-up display. With the available Tow Package, the QX60 can handle up to 6,000 lbs of towing capacity, making it a fantastic option for getting around town or going on an adventure.

The INFINITI QX80

Finally, we come to the INFINITI QX80, which is a full-size luxury SUV built on the same platform as the Nissan Armada. The QX80 has three rows of seating that can fit either seven or eight people, depending on how you configure it. In terms of power, you get a 5.6L V8 engine that delivers 400 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque, which comes paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but INFINITI All-Mode Four-Wheel Drive is available for boosted control and superior traction on the road.

For 2022, the QX80 was updated with numerous improvements inside and out, including a revised center cluster featuring a stunning 12.3-inch infotainment display with gorgeous picture quality. This is joined by wireless Apple CarPlay compatibility in every model, along with a wireless smartphone charger. An available rear entertainment system includes a pair of 8-inch displays for passengers behind the front seats. Every QX80 model features Nappa leather-appointed seating, with semi-aniline leather-appointed seating available. While a Bose 13-speaker premium audio system is standard, you can choose an available Bose Performance Series 17-speaker system for an improved listening experience.
