It’s Here! Your 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trim Buyer’s Guide

The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee is here, and people are eager to know more about it. Like its predecessors, the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee for sale is a staple of the off-roading scene, crafted by a manufacturer that harnesses the utmost respect from even the most enthusiastic partakers of the sport. There are plenty of differences between the available Grand Cherokee models – not to mention several to choose from. That’s why I’ve created a buyer’s guide so you can gain a better understanding of some highlights each trim brings over one another. There’s so much to discuss, so let’s begin right away.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee’s base trim is the Laredo. You’re getting plenty of power and a tremendous amount of standard tech for the price. The Laredo is available in either 4×2 or 4×4 configurations, and you can also opt for a third row if the standard two doesn’t cut it for you. With the Laredo, you’re getting the performance of a 3.6L V6 engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and this powertrain gives base Grand Cherokee owners 293 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The 3.6L V6 engine in the 2024 Grand Cherokee Laredo helps base models reach a maximum towing capacity of 6,200 lbs.

Inside, the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo comes with an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with 4-way power-lumbar support, so there’s no way you’re not finding a comfortable way to sit in these seats. You also get an 8.4-inch infotainment center complete with features like wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto at no extra cost, so all the ingredients are equipped to pair your infotainment center to your smartphone for limitless potential and connectivity – you also get a six-speaker audio system.

The 2024 Grand Cherokee Laredo, like the higher-tier trims, has between 37.7 and 70.8 cu.ft. of cargo space with the back seats upright and folded, and there are more than a few advanced safety features that come included for no additional cost. Safety features that come with the 2024 Grand Cherokee Laredo include Active Lane Management and LaneSense Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist. When working in tandem, these features detect lane misalignment, alert you that you need to correct your steering, and can even realign your vehicle to prevent accidentally drifting into an adjacent lane without a turn signal.

Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go also comes standard, so once you set what speed you want to travel at, your 2024 Grand Cherokee will maintain that speed but will intelligently slow down and speed up depending on how much free space sits between you and other vehicles. Thanks to Stop and Go technology, even if traffic comes to a halt, your vehicle remembers what speed you originally set, and it’ll work its way back up to that speed. The 2024 Grand Cherokee also comes with Rear Park Assist Sensors and Rear Cross Path Detection, so you’re less likely to collide with something when reversing in or out of a parking space, and you also get Full-Speed Collision Warning with Active Braking and Pedestrian/Cyclist Detection, so your Grand Cherokee can stop itself to prevent various front-end collisions.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited

The Limited adds upon the Laredo with a few differences. Firstly, you gain access to heated seats, and your front-row passenger gets an 8-way power-adjustable seat to replace the 4-way manually-adjustable seat found in the Laredo. Better yet, even passengers sitting in the rear row also get heated seats with the Limited. You also gain a 120V AC Power Outlet to accompany the two 12V DC Power Outlets that carry over from the Laredo.

With the 2024 Grand Cherokee Limited, you get LED front fog lights, and when you activate your turn signal, you’ll see an indicator on the left or right side mirror, depending on which way you’re turning. The Limited also adds a power liftgate to the rear cargo door, so with the touch of a button, the liftgate will slowly and smoothly extend downwards. 18-inch wheels come equipped with the 2024 Grand Cherokee Limited, and you can opt for a dual-pane panoramic moonroof along with a more robust audio system with three additional speakers to bring the total to nine. Lastly, the Limited comes with the larger and more feature-packed 10.1-inch UConnect5 infotainment center.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland

The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland is the trim that’s ready for any adventure you throw at it. And some of the best 2024 Grand Cherokee features are first available on the Overland trim. For example, the Overland allows you to opt for the Front Passenger Interactive Display, which is essentially an extension of the infotainment center that serves as a second monitor of sorts.

Back in the day, whenever one of my parents was driving on vacation, the other would have a map and would be reading off directions. This is where the idea of the co-pilot feature comes in. Let’s say you need someone to pull up directions, and you need to keep your eye on the road – the front row passenger can now search for the directions on a screen directly in front of them, and they can then transfer the navigation data over to the main screen. You can also use this screen to stream online videos, making it a great way to entertain passengers.

Dimensionally and mechanically, the 2024 Grand Cherokee Overland is more suitable for off-roading than the preceding trims with no additional alterations. Every 2024 Grand Cherokee Overland comes equipped with 4×4 capabilities and a larger approach angle of 30.1 degrees as opposed to 20.5 degrees on the other models. Not to mention, the 20-inch all-season tires that come standard help you traverse through mud, dirt, and rocks easily with minimal wear and tear.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit

The Summit is the most luxurious variant of the 2024 Grand Cherokee. Much of Overland’s uniqueness and features carry over to the Summit, including a standard 4×4 drivetrain, 20-inch all-season tires, and a higher approach angle than the base models, with a 28.2-degree approach angle for the Summit. The second front-row screen is also here, and you also get a 10-speaker audio system for premium sound. Something the Summit adds over the Overland is genuine leather for the steering wheel to replace the leatherette on the other trims, which matches the genuine leather seats and door inserts.

Jeep goes all in on comfort with the 2024 Grand Cherokee Summit. Standard with this trim is a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with built-in massaging capabilities built into the lumbar support. The Summit is the only trim to come with a power-adjustable seat with this much flexibility. Your front-row passenger seat is replaced with one with identical features to the driver’s seat, including the massaging components.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe

The grand appeal of the Grand Cherokee 4xe is its capabilities that aren’t marred in any way by the introduction of an electric powertrain. Under the hood is a turbocharged 2.0L I-4 engine paired with a 17.3 kWh battery and electric motors. The result is a total of 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque, and you can tow 6,000 lbs of cargo, which isn’t too far from what you can tow with the standard V6 powertrain in the regular 2024 Grand Cherokee. The Grand Cherokee 4xe can travel up to 470 miles when a full charge is presented alongside a full tank of gas, with 56 MPGe as the combined rating. 26 miles stem directly from the electric components.

With the combination of a turbocharged engine and a battery comes a standard 4×4 drivetrain. This is known as the Quadra-Trac II 4×4 system utilizing both high and low-transfer cases, and the Quadra-Drive II system helps retain on and off-road stability thanks to the included Electronic Limited Slip Differential. The 2024 Grand Cherokee 4xe has a battery that’s more protected than most, which is why you can travel in up to two feet of water with none seeping into the battery to cause fatal damage to the powertrain components. Jeep has thought of everything with the Grand Cherokee 4xe, and it’s a fantastic addition to the lineup and will surely introduce a few drivers to the world of Jeeps, EVs, or both.
