If you’re considering a new luxury vehicle, then you certainly have plenty of different brands to choose from; among them, Audi should be at the top of your list. For years now, Audi has established itself as one of the most successful and impressive luxury brands in the auto industry. Whether you’re already shopping for an Audi or you’re just considering what’s going to be available in the years to come, some of the upcoming Audi models are among the most exciting vehicles on the horizon.
Today, I’m going to take you through Audi’s upcoming offerings that I’m the most excited about, so you can see if they’re right for you. We’ll start with the 2022 Audi A3, which has been fully updated for an all-new generation of refined luxury and performance – if you want an Audi on a bit of a budget, then this is a great place to start. I’ll also look at the all-new 2022 Audi e-tron GT, which adds to the popular e-tron series with a powerful, high-performance all-electric sports sedan. Finally, we’ll look further into the future with a preview of what’s to come in the 2023 Audi A6 e-tron, which promises to deliver truly exceptional performance.
The 2022 Audi A3
When looking at Audi’s lineup, the A3 is a great place to start for any year since it’s their entry-level sedan, but it’s an especially good choice for 2022. While this isn’t a brand-new model for the Audi lineup, the A3 is starting a new generation this year and getting a full redesign. This is much more than a typical yearly update and really makes the A3 not only a great option in general but truly better than ever before.
The great thing about the updated Audi A3 is that it was already a fantastic model to begin with, so it’s not like Audi needed to really fix anything. The 2022 A3 features a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that delivers 201 hp and comes paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. While there are options for several different engines in other parts of the world, we have one engine available here in the US unless you choose to upgrade to the related Audi S3 or RS3.
You can choose either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive for the 2022 Audi A3, depending on the driving conditions you encounter the most. There are rumors going around that we might see a plug-in hybrid version of the A3 at some point in the future, utilizing some of Audi’s e-tron technology. But for now, this single, standard engine is available, and we might have to wait a couple of years for a hybrid option if it’s coming.
When it comes to technology, a 10.1-inch infotainment display is standard on the 2022 Audi A3, with a 12.3-inch display available if you want an even more sophisticated experience. While other Audi models have started using a dual-screen configuration for climate controls and other features, the A3 continues to use standard button controls for ease of use while driving. A configurable Virtual Cockpit digital gauge display is standard on the 2022 A3, and impressive safety features like automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection are also standard.
The 2022 Audi e-tron GT
For several years now, the “e-tron” has been Audi’s all-electric lineup, with two models available: a traditional SUV and a sportier Sportback SUV. For 2022, a new addition is being introduced to this lineup: the e-tron GT, which focuses on power and performance in a way that perfectly combines with Audi’s vision for luxury and sophistication. If you’ve been interested in an Audi EV model, but waiting for something with a bit more “oomph” to it, then the e-tron GT is exactly what you’ve wanted to see.
In terms of performance, the 2022 Audi e-tron GT was developed alongside the Porsche Taycan and is heavily informed by the design and power of that incredible vehicle. You could argue that it is built on the same platform as the Taycan, but with Audi design and styling, which is certainly not a bad thing. The e-tron GT is all-electric, with a pair of motors to deliver all-wheel drive. The standard e-tron GT has 522 hp, while the RS e-tron GT delivers 637 hp. Both versions feature a unique 2-speed transmission that uses one gear for launching with incredible acceleration and the other gear for maintaining speed and boosting efficiency.
The overall result is that the 2022 e-tron GT is an amazing piece of machinery that handles with precision and power worthy of its relationship with the Porsche Taycan. According to Audi’s engineers, the impressive 85 kWh lithium-ion battery delivers 238 miles of range on a full charge, with the ability to charge from 5% to 80% in just 23 minutes using 270 kW DC Fast Charging. This means that the e-tron GT not only looks amazing and delivers incredible performance but is a practical solution for daily driving or enjoying long road trips.
Inside the 2022 e-tron GT, you’ll find all of the luxury and sophistication that you expect from Audi. This includes a gorgeous 10.1-inch infotainment display standard in every model, with a digital driver gauge that always keeps you aware of what’s going on. A wireless charging pad is available, as is a 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system that sounds absolutely stunning and pairs perfectly with the performance and style of the e-tron GT. The latest safety features are also offered on the 2022 Audi e-tron GT, including adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, and a remote self-parking system that lets you park the vehicle using an app on your phone.
The 2023 Audi A6 e-tron
While the all-new 2022 Audi e-tron GT might have everyone’s attention right now, it’s clear that Audi’s not ready to rest on its laurels. They’ve already announced that the next vehicle coming to their e-tron lineup of EV models will be an A6 e-tron slated for release next year as a 2023 model. Since this model is still a year out, Audi is keeping a lot of details under wraps for now, but what has been seen is definitely impressive.
In terms of performance, the A6 e-tron will use a dual-motor system much like the powerful e-tron GT, giving it all-wheel drive. At the moment, Audi really hasn’t said much about the kind of performance it will offer, though they have said they’re targeting more than 400 miles of range on a full charge. The A6 e-tron will also benefit from similar charging technology as the 2022 e-tron GT, allowing it to charge from 5% to 80% in about 25 minutes with DC Fast Charging. This will be a larger model than the GT, giving you more interior space for passengers and cargo while still delivering amazing performance and long-distance range.
A Bright Future
As you can see, Audi continues to develop and deliver some of the most impressive cars on the road. With the full update to the A3 model, they’ve committed to building on their tradition of excellence with their standard lineup while also moving forward with more impressive and powerful EV options. The 2022 e-tron GT is an amazing choice if you’ve wanted to see an Audi EV with more power, and if you’re going to be shopping next year, then keep an eye out for the 2023 A6 e-tron. In the years ahead, the Audi e-tron series will only continue to grow and develop, making it one of the most extraordinary EV lineups from any company in the auto industry.
