You should buy a Volkswagen because they are incredibly trendy, eco-friendly, and high-tech vehicles. You want a unique vehicle. We’ve all been in the standardized cars that don’t offer anything extraordinary and get the job done, but if you are going to invest in a vehicle, you might as well go for something with a little more spunk and personality. That’s why you should consider a Volkswagen. Your gut reaction may be, “sure, but there’s no Volkswagen dealership near me, so I’ll just go with something easier.” Well, it may be worth driving a few extra minutes to your Volkswagen dealer because there are a number of reasons why you should buy a Volkswagen. We don’t have time to cover all of them, but there are three reasons we’ll focus on today: eco-friendliness, trendiness, and technology. So, let’s get to it.
EV Eco-friendliness
It has come to the attention of the world that high-emission vehicles and the environment don’t always get along. Putting care for our common home at the forefront of their work, Volkswagen is striving to be a carbon-neutral company by 2050. This is not just in vehicles but in production as well! As a landmark in this journey, the company will have 70 completely electric vehicles on the market by 2030. It has quite a strong start already, making its electric vehicles a first priority. But, the company is not just pumping out EVs to bring in the cash; it is constantly doing serious research to find the most eco-friendly ways to produce its vehicles, even its electric models.
Electricity is still a major energy source, and so it shouldn’t be thought that merely switching from a direct-injection vehicle to an electric vehicle suddenly fixes everything. Of course, it’s a step in the right direction when it comes to the health of the atmosphere, but there is still much progress to be made in optimizing the efficiency of electricity. This is the kind of efficiency that Volkswagen continues to produce in its electric vehicles and strives to improve year after year.
Now, for those of you who are not familiar with modern electric vehicles, rest assured that purchasing one is not some kind of chore that benefits the environment but gives you a boring driving experience. On the contrary, you may have to remind yourself that the vehicle is doing a favor for the environment, and you’ll be doing yourself a favor by owning a vehicle that you can easily “fuel” (aka charge) up at home. Electric vehicles are taking the world by storm, and there is a reason why: they perform better, and the design schemes are far more exciting. So it is with Volkswagen’s EVs.
As of late, VW has been using the modular e-drive system, which optimizes all elements of the driving experience, namely driving range. First featured on the ID.3 and ID.4, this system helped these two vehicles achieve a carbon-neutral balance sheet and has now been successfully implemented in 20-million vehicles. Today, though, we will focus on one of these vehicles–the ID.4 EV and a very exciting upcoming vehicle.
With an EPA-estimated range of 280 miles, this electric SUV will last a good chunk of time between charges. When you do need to stop to recharge, though, a quick charging capability (up to 70 miles in about 10 minutes!) will have you back on the road in no time.
The ID.4 is excellent; if you’re looking for a highly-capable, eco-friendly vehicle that is a good fit for Suburban life, the ID.4 is a shoo-in for your needs. It won’t be like just any SUV, though, because the instant torque that comes with an EV will have you zipping into acceleration with less noise and more fun. And that’s just the ID.4. But, before we get to our next vehicle, I want to come back to a point I made earlier.
I previously stated that the design of electric vehicles tends to be more exciting than traditional vehicles at this point in time. You may be looking at the ID. 4 and thinking, “yeah, sure, it looks like a cut above, but overall it just looks like an SUV.” Though just to be clear, the ID.4 offers a glass roof and an illuminated exterior (even the door handles), so it certainly exceeds other SUVs. But, if you’re looking for something with a little more groove that really breaks the mold, let’s move on to talk about VW’s EV style.
EV Trendiness
When you think of VW, what comes to mind? For many, it’s the classic ’70s VW van. But, such is the style of yesteryear. Or is it? The classic look is back and better than ever with the VW ID. Buzz. This astonishing EV will be building off the fashion cues of times gone by in a way that is very appropriate for today (and the future) with sharper features, sleeker materials, and, of course, premium electric vehicle technology and functionality. Hitting the United States in 2023, you’ll want to stay tuned for updates on this vehicle because it could end up checking off some big boxes on your dream vehicle list: a classic VW van, incredibly electric vehicle technology and functionality, and premium styling. Did you ever think that combination would be possible in one vehicle? It will be soon, so stay tuned. While we have to wait a little bit here in the U.S., we do have more information on what’s going on with the ID. Buzz over in Europe, which might give us some clues as to what is coming in the U.S.
The ID. Buzz strives for eco-friendliness not only in its low emissions but also in its materials. Built without any real leather, the vehicle’s interior is just as eco-friendly as its inner workings and will add a deeper level of intrigue to its styling. The interior features bright color schemes with a light gray base, complemented by classic yellow accents, bridging the gap between the past and the future. The uniqueness of the experience goes far beyond the color schemes and right to the very structure of the vehicle. With a long wheelbase and no overhang, you’ll be driving right over the heart of your vehicle, making for a deeper level of familiarity between you and your vehicle. That’s not something you’ll get in other vehicles from other brands.
The ID. Buzz is going to make some noise in the automotive world upon its United States reveal; while we don’t know exactly what it will look like for us, the European model helps us to know with relative certainty that it’s going to be a good one. The experience will be made good not just in its trendiness and EV capabilities but in its technology–just one more area where VW excels.
EV Technology
Vehicle technology has gone to new heights. Many brands have found ways to match their competitors so that now we see brands that are all offering similar technologies. Volkswagen, however, breaks the mold a bit and provides some technologies that can’t be found in other brands.
A chief example of such technologies is the development of Intuitive Start. Available in the ID. 4, this technology is able to identify when you enter the vehicle, and as long as you have your key fob with you, the car will start for you! We’re not talking about just the screens or driver information center, but the vehicle is literally ready to drive for you.
Of course, the ID.4 offers other premium technologies that you have come to expect, including a 12-inch infotainment screen, wireless charging, and so on. But, VW’s IQ.Drive technology takes your driving experience to the next level by observing the road almost as much as you do to ensure that you stay safe and that your drive is as effective as possible. With Adaptive Cruise Control, your job will be made far easier as the vehicle will take care of most of the driving for you.
A Refreshing Change
As a German brand, Volkswagen gives you a refreshing change of flavor from anything you’ll find in the United States. With fresh design features and premium technology, your driving experience will be taken to new heights. Because the brand is a leader in the electric vehicle space, you’ll be driving in a way that is highly efficient and highly fun. Those are just a few of the reasons to consider buying a Volkswagen. Maybe you’re not ready to make the purchase quite yet, but I’d say that it’s worth driving the extra few minutes to your Volkswagen dealer to see what they’ve got.
