A Buyer’s Guide to the 2024 Chevy Tahoe

The 2024 Chevy Tahoe is not renewed, reimagined, refreshed, or redesigned. Following the Tahoe’s comprehensive 2021 overhaul, Chevy has continued this full-size SUV without any serious updates.

But that doesn’t mean the 2024 Tahoe isn’t worth your time. In fact, Chevy seems to have hit a major consumer sweet spot with all of the things the Tahoe has to offer. After all, why would you change something that meets the needs of so many of today’s drivers?

Drivers continue to search for cars that can carry plenty of passengers or massive amounts of cargo without giving the feeling of driving a freight train. Road safety, in-cabin comfort, and convenient technology are at the forefront of every driver’s mind.

Sure, it’s not “All New,” but the 2024 Chevy Tahoe remains a popular, reliable, and sensible choice for drivers who want as much SUV as possible while still enjoying the ride.

Power and Performance

As always, Chevy believes in providing drivers with choices that will help them customize their driving experience to their needs. This is especially true in vehicles like the Tahoe, which, like its Silverado stablemates, is designed to be a little more rugged and capable than your average SUV.

As a result, Chevy provides Tahoe drivers with three mighty engine options. The standard engine for all but the High Country trim is an enjoyable 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 with Dynamic Fuel Management. This engine provides 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque, which is more than enough for a casual driver, road tripper, or part-time adventurer. In fact, when properly equipped, this engine is capable of towing up to 8,400 lbs.

Those looking for more speed and excitement may wish to consider the 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 that comes standard on the High Country trim. Offering a peppy 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, this engine can also be optioned in on the RST, Z71, and Premier trims.

Those who are keeping close track of their fuel economy may wish to consider the 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine, which is optional on all models except the Z71 trim. This engine includes 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque while maintaining an impressive fuel economy of 28 MPG on the highway.

Whether you’re in search of a vehicle that can do it all, that can keep up with your busy life, or that has your fuel budget in mind, the Tahoe has powerful options for nearly every driver.

Commendable Standard Features

On top of its array of accommodating engine options, the 2024 Chevy Tahoe is well-equipped with a full range of standard features. Offered in six trims, each Tahoe model includes the features drivers want and need for their daily commute.

For example, all Tahoe models include the Chevy Safety Assist suite as standard technology, which includes Forward Collision Alert with Automatic Emergency Braking and Front Pedestrian Braking, as well as IntelliBeam automatic headlights and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning. Helpful technology such as an HD Rear Vision Camera and a rear seat reminder alert also come standard.

Chevrolet’s Infotainment 3 System, which includes Bluetooth as well as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, is standard on all trims. On the LS trim, this is operated via an 8.0-inch HD color touchscreen, but on the LT trim and above, you get a customizable premium system with app control, navigation, and a massive 10.2-inch touchscreen.

Each trim offers drivers a unique Tahoe experience. The LT trim includes convenient assistance with a programmable, hands-free power liftgate and auto-dimming rear-view mirror. The RST is designed in black and red to celebrate the sportier side of the Tahoe. The Z71 is ready to tackle the road less traveled with recovery hooks, skid plates, and all-terrain tires. The Premier trim includes Magnetic Ride Control, which keeps Chevy’s vehicles like the Corvette stable and responsive as the road changes. At the top of the trim list, the Tahoe High Country offers plenty of luxury features, such as a premium Bose ten-speaker audio system with CenterPoint technology.

While the Premier and High Country trims are offered only in a seven-passenger configuration, all Chevy Tahoes are three-row models. The rest of the lineup can be configured to seat between seven and nine passengers, depending on your choice of bench seats or captain’s chairs in the first and second rows.

Those looking to stow a significant amount of stuff in their Tahoe will be pleased to learn that the cargo space is an impressive 25.5 cu.ft. when all seats are occupied. This opens up to 72.6 cu.ft. when the third row is folded, or a mammoth 122.9 cu.ft. with the second and third rows folded.

What Makes the 2024 Tahoe Stand Out?

While the standard offerings of the 2024 Tahoe clearly demonstrate that Chevy knows its drivers, it’s the little details and options that prove that this vehicle was constructed with drivers in mind.

For those who are interested in taking advantage of the Tahoe’s generous towing capabilities, the available Advanced Trailering System provides all of the necessary equipment and technology to help you feel safe with a larger load. This includes Hitch Guidance with Hitch View technology that helps you locate the hitch quickly and safely, a trailer brake controller, and technology that senses the area around the trailer; in the Premier and High Country trims, this includes Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert.

The Advanced Trailering System also offers an in-vehicle app with available camera views behind and inside the trailer, as well as a Transparent Trailer View, which shows the view surrounding the trailer. Regardless of trailering status, drivers also have up to 13 optional exterior camera views that can be integrated into their standard and optional safety technology.

The Chevy Tahoe is also road trip-ready with an available Rear-Seat Media System. Featuring two 12.6-inch HD color touchscreens that are mounted to the back of the driver and passenger seats, this system includes two HDMI ports and is compatible with Bluetooth headphones.

Other thoughtful options include a head-up display, built-in Google Assistant, and GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving tool, which provides drivers with the ultimate driving assistance on over 400,000 miles of North American roads.

A Solid Choice for Drivers Who Know What They Want

A three-row, full-size SUV is not a rarity in today’s automotive market. However, for those looking for an SUV that has truck-worthy capability, responsive driving manners, and provides drivers with the tools they need to enjoy their time on the road, the 2024 Chevy Tahoe has a lot to offer.

A solid vehicle with your choice of performance, your choices of capabilities, and your choice of features sounds like a dream come true for many drivers. If you’re looking for a vehicle that can carry a full crowd or a full load of cargo, perhaps the 2024 Tahoe deserves a little more of your attention.

Sure, it’s not all-new for 2024, but it doesn’t need to be. By allowing drivers to choose the configuration, powerhouse, and personality of their Tahoe, Chevy provides drivers with the opportunity they need to create a vehicle that will fill their needs and more for many years to come.
