The Toyota Tacoma is the midsize pickup truck that can do just about anything. Thanks to its rugged off-road capability, incredible dependability ratings, and an interior cabin that is as spacious as your full-size sedan. Capped off with four doors, an intuition for off-road exploration, and the ability to achieve impressive fuel economy numbers, the Tacoma is a great pickup truck for drivers everywhere.

Have you ever owned a car, truck, or SUV, and wished it could do more? When I was a kid, I remember wishing that my mom could press a button and our entire car could somehow magically arrive at our destination. Car rides were boring back in those days, not to mention the fact that I was the poster child for motion sickness. As a full grown adult with kids of my own, I find myself wishing even harder that my car would reach its destination in the mere blink of an eye. Skipping the incessant whining, kicking, and otherwise headache-inducing moments would be a dream come true – but just as my eight-year-old self had to come to terms with reality, so will I do the same as a thirty-something-year-old parent to two toddlers.
High Flying Fun in Your Tacoma
The Toyota Tacoma is capable of doing a lot, especially when it comes to off-roading and all-terrain exploring. One of its lesser known features is that the Tacoma is capable of taking flight. Okay, so the truck can’t actually remain afloat in mid-air, but as one criminal recently proved the Tacoma is more than able to take-off.
In the first week of March, as you were perusing the Easter candy aisle at your local grocery store with determined self-restraint, a high-speed chase was taking place in Louisiana. After an officer clocked a Toyota Tacoma traveling down a highway at 79 miles per hour with a posted speed limit of 55 miles per hour, the truck was promptly pulled over. Upon further investigation, the officer realized that the pickup was stolen, but his realization came too late. The driver took off in the Tacoma, racing in a way that seasoned Grand Theft Auto video game players would be jealous of. A high-speed chase commenced, which ended with the Tacoma taking flight and crashing into another vehicle.
Caleb Gallups, a bystander with his smartphone camera handy, was able to record footage of the Tacoma’s first ever in-air flight. As awesome as the pictures and footage are, the man responsible for testing the aerodynamics of the Tacoma is in some serious trouble. Not only that, but his brief brush with aviation put himself and a lot of other people in danger. Luckily, no one was hurt and even the criminal escaped the crashed Tacoma and attempted one final carjacking before he was taken into custody.
It’s not every day you see a midsize pickup truck flying through the air, which is why I am even more grateful that Mr. Gallups managed to snap a pic of the gravity-defying event when it was taking place.
