2020 Dodge Durango: a Midsize SUV Built for the Next Decade

A performance midsize SUV sounds like a phrase that doesn’t make any sense. When you think midsize SUVs, especially those with an available third row of seats, your mind is immediately drawn to suburban moms and dads shuttling their kids to and from soccer practice. While the 2020 Dodge Durango is capable of this suburban chauffeuring service, it is also built for so much more. With eight different models to choose from, the Durango offers SUV drivers the options and features they desire in their vehicle. The top-of-the-line 2020 Dodge Durango SRT has been rated the most powerful and fastest three-row SUV on the market. This is power and performance in a vehicle that also provides the roominess and storage capacity you need in your midsize SUV.

Three Powerful Dodge Engines to Choose From

The base model engine on the 2020 Dodge Durango is a 3.6L Pentastar DOHC V6. This engine efficiently uses its six cylinders to produce up to 295 horsepower with 260 lb-ft of torque, allowing the Durango to tow up to 6,200 pounds. It also won’t punish you at the pump, providing an estimated 19 miles per gallon in the city, 26 miles per gallon out on the highway, and 22 miles per gallon overall.

Need some more get-up-and-go? The 5.7L Hemi OHV V8 provides up to 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. This also gives your Durango the strength to tow up to 7,400 pounds of trailer.

Estimated mileage is an acceptable 14 miles per gallon in the city, 22 miles per gallon on the highway, and an overall 18 miles per gallon.

If that is not enough power, then there is always the 6.4L Hemi OHV V8. This monster will give you an incredible 475 horsepower with 470 lb-ft of torque. This V8 gives you the power to tow up to 8,700 pounds. The EPA estimates the mileage on this engine to be 13 miles per gallon in the city, 19 miles per gallon on the highway, and 16 miles per gallon overall.

The transmission is a standard 8-speed automatic with sequential shift control. This allows the electronic t-shifter to make gear selections depending on driving conditions intuitively.
