Your Trim Guide for the 2025 Honda CR-V

If you’re considering the all-new 2025 Honda CR-V for sale, you’ll instantly notice that it has three trims with a traditional gas engine and three with a hybrid powertrain. Navigating this trim lineup might feel confusing at first, but once you get to know it, you’ll see that Honda did a solid job planning the different grades of the 2025 CR-V. With a little something for everyone, ranging from the base gas-powered trim to a luxury hybrid one, the CR-V is a versatile compact SUV. Below, I’ve covered the highlights of each one to assist you in your shopping journey.

Gas-Powered Trims

Let’s kick things off with the traditional gas engine trims. All of these trims have a four-cylinder turbocharged engine beneath the hood, which pumps out 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque and gets a great fuel economy of 28 MPG in the city and 34 MPG on the highway. Each gas trim also enjoys a three-mode drive system consisting of Snow mode (for improved traction on slippery roads), Econ mode (which improves fuel economy), and Normal mode (which balances performance, comfort, and fuel efficiency). Available real-time all-wheel drive (AWD) is available on all gas trims, too. Now, let’s dive into the specifics of each one…

The CR-V LX

The LX is the base trim, and it has tons of great features. As for safety, it gets the Honda Sensing suite standard, whose driver assistance features include a collision mitigation braking system, which can activate emergency braking when needed to avoid an accident. It also has road departure mitigation to keep you from veering off the road and lane keep assist to keep you in your lane. Also part of this suite is Honda’s popular traffic sign recognition, which detects upcoming traffic signs and depicts their icons on the driver information center. A multi-angle rearview angle comes standard, too, as does adaptive cruise control.

This trim offers standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and you can control those apps on a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen. A USB port in the front allows you to charge your devices on the go. The four-speaker sound system plays music, podcasts, and other audio media. You can enjoy all of this while sitting in cloth seats and keeping comfortable with single-zone automatic climate control.

The CR-V EX

The EX builds on the LX, so you can expect what you get on the LX, plus more. You’ll get a one-touch power moonroof to allow in natural light at the push of a button. Single-zone climate control gets bumped up to dual-zone climate control. You also get the addition of heated seats for even more climate comfort. As the driver, you’ll move up from a manual seat to a power one for easy adjustability.

You’ll also go from the four-speaker sound system to a six-speaker one, giving you a more immersive listening experience. Plus, in addition to the standard Honda Sensing suite, you’ll get blind spot information with cross-traffic monitoring to alert you of vehicles traveling in your blind spot and behind you. The addition of a rear USB port gives passengers a place to plug in devices here, too.

The CR-V EX-L

Now, onto the EX-L, which builds on the EX. You’ll find an attractive leather-upholstered interior in this trim instead of the cloth seats. As you look in front of you, you’ll see a bigger touchscreen—nine inches, to be exact. You can ditch the USB cords if you want to, too, because this trim gets you wireless smartphone compatibility, as well as a wireless phone charger. So you don’t need cords to sync or power your phones.

You’ll listen to your tunes on an impressive eight-speaker sound system in this vehicle, which is a bump up from the six-speaker system of lower trims. As the driver, you’ll add a memory function to that power front seat so the vehicle will recall your preferred settings each time you activate the ignition. You also get a power tailgate, so there is no need to manually push the trunk open. You’ll get all of the driver assistance features of the EX, as well as parking sensors to help you in and out of tough parking jobs.

Hybrid-Powered Trims

Now, let’s move on to the hybrid trims. Every hybrid 2025 CR-V will have a 204-hp four-cylinder engine under the hood, paired with an electric motor, that generates 247 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain sees fuel economy figures of 43 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway. The hybrid trims also build on the traditional gas engine’s three-mode drive system with a fourth: Sport, which will give you more responsive handling and a thrilling behind-the-wheel feel overall.

The CR-V Sport Hybrid

The Sport Hybrid brings you almost back to the features of the LX in some ways. You’ll be back at wired smartphone compatibility—so bring your USB cord—and you’ll return to that seven-inch touchscreen. You see the cloth seats again here; however, they do have fun orange sport inserts. The standard Honda Sensing suite shows up here, as well—the same as the LX.

So, what does the Sport Hybrid add? For one, you get roof rails, creating additional exterior cargo options for transporting adventure gear, strollers, outer cargo boxes—you name it. You won’t go back to the four-speaker sound system but actually get the six-speaker one. So, it does offer some perks that the starting-level gas trim does not.

The CR-V Sport-L Hybrid

You can just about look at the Sport-L Hybrid like the EX-L. It gets you a leather-trimmed interior, adds that power tailgate, and puts the parking sensors back on. It also gets you the nine-inch touchscreen, that eight-speaker sound system, wireless smartphone compatibility, and wireless charging. So you’re looking at all of the perks of the EX-L but in a hybrid.

The CR-V Sport Touring Hybrid

The Sport Touring doesn’t really have a comparable trim in the traditional gas engine lineup. It adds some perks not otherwise seen on the CR-V, one of which is the Bose premium sound system. It only comes in this trim, so if you’re serious about the best listening experience, it’ll be the Sport Touring Hybrid for you.

This trim also exclusively features Honda satellite-linked navigation, which ensures you get where you’re going, even in bad service areas or when your phone dies. The rear power liftgate is upgraded to a hands-free one; just make a kicking motion beneath the rear bumper, and the trunk will automatically open for you. You’ll also be back up to that nine-inch touchscreen here, and you’ll enjoy leather seats and a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel for extra luxury appeal. The Sport Touring Hybrid is really in a league of its own in this lineup.

Now You’re Ready to Select Your 2025 CR-V

You should have a good sense of the 2025 CR-V‘s trim lineup, and Honda produced a nice variety of options for drivers seeking a traditional gas engine or a hybrid powertrain. However, you can’t help but notice that some of the truly premium features are only available in that Sport Touring Hybrid trim, which could be Honda’s way of encouraging drivers to prepare for a solely electrified lineup.
