Which Sierra 1500 Is Best For You in 2024?

We get that you’re looking for a GMC Sierra for sale, but what we don’t get is why you haven’t already picked one up. We can only imagine that you’re waiting for the 2024 Sierra 1500, and if that’s the case, it will be well worth the wait.

The Sierra 1500 is the counterpart to its Silverado 1500 cousin, so you know that you’ll be in good hands with GMC. The Sierra 1500 is famous for its rugged performance, aggressive engines, and smart styling, which make it a well-rounded truck that can do double duty as a work and family vehicle.

The Sierra 1500 has been helping drivers move things and people since the 1960s, before it was put on hiatus in 1999. In 2003, a revamped Sierra 1500 was ready to take on the full-size truck market again. A great lineup of trim options, cab and bed choices, and powertrains made the Sierra 1500 appealing to truck enthusiasts as well as casual everyday drivers looking for a capable vehicle.

The Sierra 1500 is now in its fourth generation, and the 2024 model has many little features that add up to a big deal for drivers who want the latest and best truck from GMC. Get a truck that is up for your tasks and ready to meet your individual needs when you get behind the wheel of the 2024 Sierra 1500.

Power and Performance

GMC is known for having a great range of engine choices to meet diverse needs. The 2024 Sierra 1500 has four options:

The standard 310 hp 2.7L TurboMax can tow up to 9,500 lbs plus offers a best-in-class torque output of 430 lb-ft. The engine also comes with a five-year/100,000 Powertrain limited warranty for additional peace of mind.

The 5.3L gas engine comes standard on the SLT and Denali trims. Expect 355 hp combined with 383 lb-ft of torque, contributing to its healthy max towing range of up to 11,200 lbs.

Find the 305 hp 3.0L Duramax Turbo Diesel standard on the aggressive AT4 or AT4X trims. This engine features a whopping 495 lb-ft of torque and an excellent tow rating of up to 13,200lbs! If that’s not enough, the engine features Active Fuel Management, helping it rank as best-in-class for highway fuel economy.

The final engine choice of 2024 comes in the form of a 6.2L V8 engine that is standard on the Denali Ultimate trim. It features 420 hp with 460 lb-ft of torque. If you want an engine for work, fun, and everything in between, this available V8 delivers in a big way.

Available Selectable Drive Modes allow drivers to seamlessly switch between performance modes for increased traction and control when the situation calls for it. Modes include:

  • Tour: Perfect for everyday use!
  • Sport: Makes your steering more responsive. Perfect for tackling bends in the road.
  • Terrain: Dealing with ruts? Or indulging in some light off-roading? Terrain helps you get the most from your truck’s performance when driving on a rocky road, field, etc.
  • Tow/Haul: Towing? Hauling? Enough said! Reduce the amount of shifting to increase performance.
  • Off-Road: Delivers more traction and control when dealing with rough, uneven terrain.
  • Snow (available on 2WD models): Don’t let winter get you down! This mode improves your truck’s performance on slippery roads.

Exterior Design And Features

On the outside of the 2024 Sierra 1500, drivers can expect bold styling with a large, distinct grille. Depending on your trim choice, the grille adds flair to your truck’s overall appearance in either chrome, glossy black, monotone, or Vader chrome.

And who can overlook the truck bed? It’s arguably the most important feature of a pickup truck! The MultiPro Tailgate comes standard on the SLE, Elevation, AT4, AT4X, and the Denali Ultimate. It is also available if you wish to upgrade your PRO trim. The MultiPro Tailgate features six functions to simplify loading, unloading, hauling, and staying organized. Use your key fob to open or close the gate. Enjoy inner and outer stop gaps and gates. Use the inner gate as an additional work surface in the field, or bring along music with the addition of the available integrated MultiPro Audio System.

The short cargo bed boasts a best-in-class volume of 63.9 cu.ft. of space, which outshines all competitors in its class. To improve on the already impressive bed, an available CarbonPro Composite Bed for the AT4, Denali, and Denali Ultimate features a carbon fiber material that makes your bed scratch, rust, and dent resistant. Got hard work ahead of you? No problem—the 2024 Sierra 1500 is ready for anything the day throws at you.

Interior Comfort and Convenience

The Sierra’s cabin features lux materials that vary between trims while offering great styling, design, and comfort across the board. Get full-grain leather seating and embossed topographical map patterns of Mt. Denali’s summit, Paldao wood, aluminum, and chrome accents when you level up to the high-end Denali Ultimate. The tough AT4 features perforated front leather seating surfaces, while the Denali delivers real wood trim. Adjustable heated and ventilated seating keeps drivers cool or warm and always comfortable no matter what the temperatures are doing outside.

What about space? The 2024 Sierra delivers plenty, with best-in-class head and leg room for its crew cab. The airy cabin has been designed to help keep you not only comfortable and supported, but also organized thanks to hand cubbies and smart storage throughout. Available storage options can be added to create under-seat storage, seatback storage, and central console storage. You’ll enjoy extra security with large lower and upper lockable glove boxes.

Tech And Connectivity

Building on the streamlined and relaxing interior design of the new Sierra 1500 is the latest advanced technology, allowing drivers to easily stay connected and safe on the road. Large digital displays make for easy viewing. Available infotainment touchscreens can range up to 13.4 inches and are available with Google Built-in to help you go hands-free while personalizing your drive with playlists, podcasts, and real-time navigation.

A 15-inch available Head-Up Display can project your most important driving data like fuel levels, speed, and more onto your windshield so you never have to look away from what’s ahead.

Those large digital screens come in handy if you opt for up to 14 different available camera views. These additional cameras can make all the difference when you’re hauling and towing and really could use an extra set of eyes to help you view blindspots and the area directly behind you. With tech systems like Hitch Guidance and Inside Trailer View, you can feel confident on the road.

The ProGrade Trailering System is standard for the AT4, Denali, AT4X, and Denali Ultimate trims but is also available on the SLT. The intelligent trailering system offers a host of features and advanced tech to upgrade your trailering experience, streamline the process, and make hitching up faster and easier. Included is Smart Trailer Integration with available additions like the In-Vehicle Trailering App and the MyGMC mobile app, all of which are designed to improve hauling and towing for drivers.

Have you heard of Super Cruise? It’s the latest hands-free driving technology you’re going to want by your side if your drivers are often long, mundane, or you’re simply just tired. Super Cruise allows drivers to go hands-free on over 400,000 miles of roads throughout the US and Canada, and the number is growing!
