The 2025 Ram 1500: The Truck You’ve Been Waiting For

The truck world is eagerly awaiting the newest iteration of the Ram 1500. This model has been fully redesigned for the 2025 model year, and there’s one aspect in particular that has the gearheads buzzing. The 2025 Ram 1500 will be introducing two new engines aimed at lowering emissions while still generating the brute power needed for the work that the pickup is best known for tackling.

In addition, there are several new category-exclusive technology, durability, and quality-of-life improvements that will be included. Add in the ambitious promise of over 100 features for safety and security, and you’ve got a truck worth talking about over the water cooler. Here’s an overview of what we know so far about the 2025 Ram 1500. One tiny spoiler: this just might be the truck that you’ve been waiting for without even realizing it. Don’t worry. When it becomes available for purchase in the first quarter of 2024, you won’t be alone.

New Engines Rock Ram Like a Hurricane

The days of HEMI V8s in the Ram 1500 are over. There’s a new engine in town, two of them, in fact––a pair of twin-turbocharged Hurricanes, both 3.0L inline-sixes that house an entire herd of horses. The new engines reduce emissions but still offer massive power with six cylinders fed by a pair of low-inertia, high-flow turbochargers for quick reactions to the inputs from the throttle. The leader of the duo will be a High-Output dynamo that can pull up to 10,740 lbs with its 521 lb-ft of torque and 540 hp. The payload maximum is a robust 1,370 lbs.

Though the output drops down to 420 hp on the Standard-Output Hurricane 3.0L, it offers a higher towing capacity than its High-Output twin, maxing out at 11,560 lbs thanks to the 469 lb-ft of torque. There is also a large increase in maximum payload, bringing it up to a robust 1,910 lbs. Both engines are partnered with a TorqueFlite eight-speed transmission that produces optimal maneuvering with smooth as-silk shifts, aiding in the efficient use of fuel. Though the EPA has not released an estimate, Ram has stated that the Hurricane engines will increase the Ram 1500’s fuel economy numbers.

Returning to the engine lineup is the base 3.6L Pentastar V6 with eTorque. While it lacks the towing capacity of either Hurricane option, coming in at 8,100 lbs, it does offer an impressive payload of 2,300 lbs. Also equipped with the eight-speed TorqueFlite, this engine offers 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. Ram’s manufacturer estimate for fuel economy is 26 MPG on the highway.

Your Partner In Productivity

Hard work has always been the lifeblood of the Ram 1500. When you’re shedding blood, sweat, and tears to get the job done, you need a truck that has durability and features that work as hard as you do. After all, the best trucks are the ones that become your trusted partners for working hard and playing hard.

While maximum payload is an important consideration, that’s only a piece of the puzzle. It doesn’t matter how much your Ram can haul if you can’t get it in the bed in the first place. The 2025 Ram 1500 has a powered tailgate that opens and closes with a quick press of a button on your keyfob or the overhead console. Another button is on the handle of the tailgate itself. An optional multi-function tailgate will allow you to open it from the left, the right, or down the middle in addition to laying down flat.

We all know that the tailgate is also a multi-purpose surface that is used as a seat, a table, and a workbench, among other things. Whether you’re running power tools or portable lights or just need a little music while you work, the two 110-volt power outlets have you covered. The RamBox Cargo Management System has lockable, weatherproof storage boxes built right into the bed walls to hold everything you need securely. Proper cargo management is just good pickup truck sense.

The hardest part of towing is getting the trailer on the hitch. Unless you have the Trailer Auto Hitch Assist, then you just have to work the brakes and throttle while sensors guide your truck right into place. Imagine how much time you could save if you didn’t have to start every trip with multiple attempts to align with the trailer tongue. Once you’re on the road with minutes to spare, the Ram 1500 continues to make towing easier with telescopic trailer tow mirrors and a mirror-mounted camera system to act as front and rear spotters. Let’s be honest: no matter how much towing you’ve done, you feel better if you can keep an eye on the trailer. And those mirrors that helped you with that can retract once you’ve reached your destination to fit into awkward parking spaces.

With five drive modes, the Ram 1500 gets the maximum performance out of all sorts of surfaces, including snow and off-road conditions. There are also settings for Normal, Tow, and Sport. No matter where you roam and what kind of road it is, you’ll enjoy the comfort and handling of double-wishbone front suspension and a solid axle five-link rear suspension.

Brains Can Be Brawny Too

The 2025 Ram 1500 comes with an assortment of technology and infotainment options to make each ride enjoyable, whether you’re driving to work or heading off for a weekend trip where the roads don’t go. A 14.5-inch Uconnect touchscreen in the center console controls the infotainment options, which include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It can also be used for climate control settings and navigation, in addition to running two apps from two separate smartphones simultaneously.

An exciting option for Ram 1500 owners is going keyless. With a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch, you can access and start up your truck without even taking the phone out of your pocket. Traditional key fobs are standard, but this is one available option that is well worth the investment. Just think of those times when your hands are full, and fumbling to get out your keys turns into a juggling lesson. It’s also a safety backup in case your keys get lost or stolen.

There are two wireless charging pads to keep smartphones at the ready. Plus, your passenger can enjoy a 10.25-inch interactive display, which can be used to stream movies, music, and other internet content through the Uconnect 5 system. They can also send the driver directions through their screen and see the view from the exterior cameras.

Safe Drives Are Happy Drives

At the end of the day, nothing else matters if you’re not safe. Not engines, touchscreens, torque, trims, or maximum payload. Your safety and the safety of your passengers is the most important thing that any vehicle can provide. The 2025 Ram 1500 takes that obligation seriously and offers over 100 safety and security features.

Drowsy Driver Detection sends audio and visual alerts to recommend that the driver pull over and get some rest after drowsy driving patterns are detected. For wide-awake drivers, Hands-Free Active Driving Assist allows them to relax a bit behind the wheel on compatible roads across the United States. Sensors make sure the truck stays centered in its lane and offer a gentle correction if there is any drifting, along with maintaining a safe space behind the vehicle ahead. If there is an imminent collision, the collision assist system will apply the brakes if you do not have time to react.

When we reach our destinations, the last thing we want to do is struggle with parking and deal with the potential for a fender-bender. Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist can make the often difficult task of parallel parking easier on you and your Ram by finding the best spot and then taking over the process of steering, accelerating, and braking. If you’re dealing with a more traditional parking spot, ParkSense will detect the lines and guide your Ram right between them. Every journey should have a happy ending, and the Ram 1500 knows just how to make that happen.

The 2025 Ram 1500: All In A Day’s Work

The Ram pickup has been one of the most recognized trucks for over four decades. The 2025 Ram 1500 brings the brawny, bold style that has become its trademark with modern twists that keep it fresh and contemporary. Available in a selection of trims that each have a distinct grille design and a variety of exterior colors, there’s a Ram 1500 that can match your style.

Most importantly, the Ram 1500 continues the legacy of being the ultimate work truck with features specially geared towards hauling and towing. The new Hurricane engines mark a shift towards eco-consciousness without compromising the brute power needed to get the job done. Technology packages aim to give drivers their best experience behind the wheel. The range of safety features shows the Ram 1500 works hardest of all when it’s protecting its most valuable cargo: you and your passengers. All eyes are sure to be on the Ram 1500 when it rolls off the assembly line early this year. Waiting is hard, but some things are well worth it.
