The 2023 Subaru Legacy: What Can Be Expected

As 2022 continues to progress, many car manufacturers have begun releasing their 2023 models. One of these manufacturers is none other than Subaru. Its 2023 lineup is set to arrive at dealers in the fall of this year, and many popular models have been updated for the new year! While all of its models are shaping up to look rather promising, there is a standout vehicle amongst the group. Set to be coming in stores later this year is the refreshed 2023 Subaru Legacy. Like many other unreleased models, the new Legacy is yet to have all of its information open to the public. However, the few nuggets of detail Subaru have provided have gotten people excited for its debut.

While other manufacturers are adding more features and increasing costs at the same time, Subaru is working to keep things affordable. The 2023 Subaru Legacy has added some highly requested features that make the car an exceptional vehicle for its class. However, it’s speculated Subaru still managed to keep costs low. How does the brand manage to include more for less? Who knows! It is great to see that some companies want to make their products high quality with an affordable price tag.

Reliable and Efficient Performance

Subaru has confirmed that the Legacy comes standard with its 2.5L Boxer-4 engine. This tried and true engine has been powering the Legacy since 2012! Boxer engines are known for their lower center of gravity and their reliability. The 2.5L Boxer-4 engine is not known for having many issues. Plus, that lower center of gravity allows the car to be lighter and more compact.

Alongside the special traits of the engine, it also gets above-average fuel economy. The 2023 Legacy is rated for 27 MPG in city driving and an impressive 35 MPG on highways. With gas pricing continually soaring through the roof, fuel-efficient cars are becoming a necessity, and the 2023 Legacy cuts down on the number of trips to the gas station. The performance of the 2.5L engine is also pretty solid for a midsize sedan. It gets 182 hp with 176 lb-ft of torque. This engine is no powerhouse, but for its compact and light design, it does the job right. For its price range, the performance really doesn’t get any better than this.

For those who want an affordable sports sedan, the 2023 Legacy has a solution that provides more performance. All the blogs that are dedicated to discussing the 2023 Subaru Legacy cannot shut up about the new Sport trim. That’s for good reason too. For those who want more bang for their buck, the Sport trim comes standard with a 2.4L turbocharged Boxer-4 engine. Is 182hp not enough? Try 260 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. This optional engine puts the Legacy in competition with other high-performance midsize sedans. Those who were kept from enjoying a sports sedan by high prices need to look no further. The speculated price for the sports trim is just under $30,000. The 2023 Legacy is a good compromise between performance and price.

Trims and Pricing

Speaking of pricing, Subaru is known for a few things, and one of those is its affordability. Keep in mind that the official MSRP has not been released yet. Using the 2022 Legacy‘s MSRP, multiple sources speculate the base 2023 model is expected to start at around $24,000. No, you saw that number right! Multiple sources anticipate rather competitive pricing, which has always been a strong point of Subaru vehicles. For around $24,000, Subaru offers standard equipment that is typically a factory option.

The highest MSRP is expected to be the Touring XT trim at around $37,000. That is some manufacturers’ starting prices for a vehicle in this class. The Touring XT comes standard with many new features Subaru is adding to the Legacy. Along with safety features, it includes a new Wide-Angle Mono Camera to further enhance the EyeSight system’s field of view. The mono camera makes an already capable set of safety features that much safer.

Subaru EyeSight

Driving can always be intimidating. The only thing that prevents an accident is a bunch of paint, lines, and trust. The 2023 Subaru Legacy includes EyeSight Driver Assist Technology as a standard feature. It is really impressive how the Legacy offers these features for an already affordable vehicle. Subaru does not skip out on safety, and EyeSight has many complex abilities.

The most impressive one is its adaptive cruise control. The car will monitor what is in front of it to determine how fast it should go. This will make sure that the car does not go fast enough to hit what is in front of it. This feature synergizes well with the pre-collision braking system. As the name implies, if the car detects that it is going to collide with something. It will immediately start breaking.

Another feature that the Legacy has is lane keep assist. This will help prevent the vehicle from swerving out of its lane and potentially causing an accident. Please note that this is not hands-free driving, and you still have to keep your hands on the wheel at all times. It just makes the task of constantly making micro-adjustments less tedious.

One of the Legacy’s most helpful driving-assist features is its high beam assist. Sometimes it’s very difficult to see at night, but high beams can blind other drivers in all directions. With high beam assist, the car will automatically adjust the beams if there is a car in front of you. Now drivers no longer have to be guilt-tripped to turn off the high beams if they have low visibility.

Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive

Another feature that is usually a factory option is an all-wheel drive functionality. What normally marks the price of a vehicle up by around $1,500 comes standard with the base model. Subaru has built itself a reputation for having one of the best all-wheel drive vehicles. Places that have a lot of snow are pretty popular areas for the Legacy. All-wheel drive means that the car can easily climb itself out of a snow pit. The chances of the car getting stuck due to heavy snow are greatly reduced since power will be sent to all four wheels. It is not just good in the snow too. The drivetrain is also handy for all sorts of weather and conditions. Overall, this makes the Legacy extremely versatile.

Updated For 2023

A minor but important change is the 2023 Legacy’s exterior redesign. The front grill has a more aggressive shape. Maybe it says something about the boldness of the Legacy? More importantly, the headlights are LED. This is a much-appreciated feature as LED lights tend to shine brighter than traditional halogen bulbs. The light they emit is also a nice bright white color. Halogen lights, on the other hand, have a yellowish tint to the light. Additionally, the LED lights are more durable and consume less electricity, improving fuel economy and reducing maintenance costs.

The all-new 2023 Subaru Legacy is set to make its appearance at Subaru dealers this fall. With it comes a new redesign, as well as new features that come standard with the basic trim. For its price, it brings so many things. For anyone looking for an affordable and dependable modern vehicle, you can’t go wrong with a Legacy.
