The 2023 Ford F-250 Is Still the Heavy-Duty Go-To

The 2023 Ford F-250 offers plenty to heavy-duty truck lovers of all types. As always, Ford has made many options and features available. It can be difficult, in all the best ways, when it comes to deciding what you should take into consideration when selecting the best truck for you. To guarantee you get the ideal truck, it is best to learn everything about it.

Power

The 2023 Ford F-250 is an impressive full-size pickup that’s ready to tackle a variety of tasks. When working with a large load, making long hauls, or tending your property, a dependable heavy-duty pickup is necessary. Hauling and towing capacity varies based on the engine, transmission, and other options selected, which is why Ford offers a variety of engines.

Several powerful engines are available. The standard 6.8-liter V8 engine has been redesigned to produce more power, improving efficiency and performance. It focuses on low-end torque, which makes towing, hauling, and merging onto busy highways or interstates easier. Its output is 405 horsepower and 445 ft-lb of torque.

If you’d like more power, you can opt for the 7.3-liter V8 instead of the standard 6.8 liter. The bigger brother of the two has improved to be toward the top of its class in terms of horsepower and torque due an improved air intake and tuning. This beast makes 430 horsepower and 485 ft-lb of torque.

The diesel options are also well known workhorses. The 6.7-liter V8 Power Stroke is ready to run longer with less down time, as it can go for longer lengths of time without an oil change being required. This standard 6.7 diesel makes 475 horsepower and a massive 1,050 ft-lb of torque. If even that is not enough, you can upgrade to the 6.7-liter High Output Power Stroke. Ford has tweaked this version to produce 500 horsepower and 1,200 ft-lb of torque.

Towing and Hauling

If you have a need for a powerful truck with the capacity to tow heavy loads, the 2023 F-250 delivers on those capablilites. Specific towing capacities depend on whether you choose a Regular Cab, Super Cab, or Crew Cab; two or four-wheel drive; and which engine you select. For example, a Regular Cab F-250 with the standard 6.8-liter V8 and two-wheel drive has a towing capacity of 14,800 pounds. This decreases to 14,500 pounds in the four-wheel-drive model. The extra weight of the Super and Crew Cab further decreases capacities to 14,500 and 14,100 pounds for two- and four-wheel-drive models respectively.

Power Stroke diesel models, however, gain more towing capacity in four-wheel-drive models than two-wheel-drive. A Regular Cab truck with either of the diesel engine options can tow 18,200 pounds with two-wheel drive, and 20,000 with four-wheel drive. Opt for the Super Cab or Crew Cab, and those capacities increase to 19,500 for two-wheel drive and 22,000 for four-wheel drive.
Ford includes several technologies in the F-250 that can assist you with towing safely and efficiently. Ford’s Smart Hitch system includes new Onboard Scales to monitor the weight of your load on your touchscreen display. This feature tells you if you’re going over or not over your maximum payload limit so that you can adjust loading accordingly. This sort of technology is a first and will be extremely valuable if you’re often hauling heavy loads.

Ford has also made great use of cameras to improve the towing experience. A 360-degree camera makes it much easier to safely maneuver the trailer. Blind spot information for the gooseneck as well as the tailgate sensor systems allow easier reversing by showing blind spots, or when the tailgate is close to a dock. The Pro Trailer hitch assist does a job many of us might loathe by automatically aligning the hitch to the trailer. The idea is to make sure the heavy pickups such as the 2023 Ford F-250 are not only fun to drive, but also more than just practical by using technology to ease the process of towing.

If you prefer to carry your cargo in the bed rather than tow it behind you, the F-250 is quite capable of this as well. Again, the exact cargo capacity depends on what combination of cab, engine, wheelbase, and drivetrain you choose. It may surprise you to know that the highest capacity is actually found in the basic regular cab F-250, with the standard 6.8-liter V8 and two-wheel drive. It can haul a maximum of 4,302 pounds, over two tons! The bigger and heavier the truck, the less it can carry. It’s also interesting to note that diesel models don’t haul as much as trucks with gas engines. However, even the lowest capacity, found on the 6.7 Power Stroke long-bed crew cab with four-wheel drive, is still 3,554 pounds, which is no slouch at all for hauling stuff around.

Comfort, Tech, and More

In addition to its impressive towing capacities, the 2023 Ford F-250 also comes equipped with advanced safety features like a rear camera, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. It can also be further customized with various accessories, such as cargo boxes or trailers, to make sure your vehicle is equipped for optimal performance on the job site.

With all of its size, space, and style, the F-250 is also built for comfort. This pickup boasts plenty of features that make it one of the most comfortable trucks in its class. No matter if your passengers are sitting in the front or back seat, there will be plenty of room for all to be seated and move around comfortably. The F-250 incorporates many safety features, many of which can be accessed from the infotainment display. Other features include adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning with active braking. These tools can protect you from accidents while driving around worksites, wooded areas, or the city.

The 2023 Ford F-250 offers a host of convenient features. One of the most impressive is its rearview camera with telescoping tow mirror, accessible through the touchscreen interface for easy use during long days on the job or when at play. The F-250 XL comes with an eight-inch infotainment system that grows to a 12-inch screen as you progress up through the trim levels. You also have several interior options available, such as leather upholstery and heated steering wheel.

The Super Duty is also equipped with Pro Power Onboard, providing you with up to two kilowatts of output from your vehicle’s electrical outlets. This basically gives you your own office on the go when you need it. Naturally, this will lead to more productivity on the job, when completing personal projects, or traveling.

The Ultimate Truck for Work and Play

Whether you’re towing heavy equipment to job sites, hauling heavy cargo loads, or towing a camper for family getaways, the 2023 Ford F-250 is a hard working, reliable companion. It’s also come a long way from the bare bones, stripped down work trucks of the past. The F-250 is a comfortable ride with great features and technology even in its most basic form, and the luxury only goes up from there.
