Meet Your Perfect Three-Row SUV: The 2025 Acura MDX

If you are seeking a luxury three-row SUV in 2025, it’s important to dig a little further than the surface level. If you look only at the models that make the most noise with media hype, you may miss some of the best options this year. Acura may not have the same reputation as some other brands more steeped in pop culture, but the 2025 Acura MDX is one of the best three-row SUV offerings for this model year. Sometimes, media hype can distort our vision of what’s true, and it can be tempting to think that because we don’t hear from Acura as much, its vehicles must be second-rate. But the 2025 MDX proves this absolutely false.

One look at the interior, and it’s plain to see that it’s a nicer SUV than most of its competitors. Plus, it has impressive performance capability and generous interior space. If you’re looking for a three-row SUV this year, don’t scroll past the MDX; if you do, you may end up missing your ideal option. To prove it to you, I want to take a more detailed look at the 2025 MDX’s performance, design, and technology features so you can see what you’re offered and why it’s a great choice this model year.

Beyond the Ordinary

Any good vehicle will give you the choice of more than one engine. For drivers who are focused on budget over capability, this provides the opportunity to prioritize savings, while those who are more focused on performance than budget can spend the extra money for the extra specs. The 2025 Acura MDX takes this approach with two engine choices.

Drivers can choose between a 3.5L V6 engine and a 3.0L turbocharged V6 engine. You may be inclined to assume that the 3.5L engine has the higher specs, but you would be incorrect as the power of turbos swoops in to take the cake. The 3.5L V6 engine delivers 290 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque, which certainly isn’t bad; however, the 3.0L turbocharged V6 engine in the MDX Type S simply does better, producing 355 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. Those are strong, solid specs for a three-row SUV. With the capability of the 3.0L turbocharged V6 engine, the MDX is well-suited to a variety of driving needs and is able to deliver strong performance with a hefty amount of torque. There’s no doubt that performance-seekers will prefer the turbocharged engine in the Type S.

SUVs are called upon to deliver more than they used to. People now want SUVs that can do everything, from running errands at the grocery store to off-roading and even towing large trailers. Acura sees this, and the 2025 MDX provides engineering capability to deliver multifaceted performance. Even though the MDX is not a full-size SUV, it offers a towing capacity of up to 5,000 lbs. A non-full-size SUV is not guaranteed to have towing capability, so the fact that you have a generous number like that in the MDX speaks to its versatility.

If you simply scroll past the MDX to look at other vehicles, you could end up missing some ideal performance—capability that gives you a well-rounded SUV that you can put to use in a variety of scenarios. But the MDX offers a lot more than just performance, so read on!

Style and Space at a New Level

Just as people want SUVs that offer versatile and dynamic performance, there is just as much, if not more, demand for SUVs that offer premium style to rival some of the best sports cars. This is, perhaps, where the MDX excels most. While there are a good number of SUVs that may craft an aesthetic that looks appealing (at least at first), few vehicles do it as authentically as the MDX.

Of course, just like any modern vehicle, the MDX offers a variety of trim options, so you have the opportunity to choose your own package depending on your budgetary needs and stylistic preferences. But you’ll have some great options to choose from. At its core, the MDX offers a highly functional interior. With its SUV build, the interior provides a generous amount of space. As you’ve likely come to expect in an SUV, the rear seats are foldable, making for helpful flexibility when it comes to adjusting the seating and cargo arrangement based on your daily needs.

With all the rear seats folded, the MDX offers up to 95 cu.ft. of cargo space, which is a tremendous spec that anybody reading should stop and consider right now. That much cargo space in a non-full-size SUV gives you an abundance of room for all kinds of cargo needs, from daily grocery runs to extended road trips and even at-home DIY projects. The even more exciting news is that the MDX offers this generous space in breathtaking style.

Now, some vehicles offer relatively distinct levels of luxury as you work your way up the trim options. You may have a little bit of a hard time choosing your favorite trim in the Acura lineup because it’s not a matter of choosing the luxury trim but which luxury trim. There are a number of great contenders, all of which offer different benefits.

There’s the Advance Package, which provides beautiful Milano leather seating in warm colors like Espresso and Parchment. Complemented by open-pore wood detailing, you’ll feel at home and be able to relax into the drive, enjoying every second you spend in the car. Sporty performance-seekers will likely be attracted to the A-Spec package, which offers a Red interior, crafting a feeling of sporty ferocity fit for the racetrack; when I say “Red” interior, I don’t mean maroon or off-red—I mean true red, the kind that makes you feel a little more alive.

There’s also the MDX Type S. While the Type S color schemes are lighter in color with Orchid and Azurite Blue leather seating options, this version caters to a different aesthetic. But, with the front seats offering nine different massage modes (nine different massage modes!), you may find that those lighter color schemes are calling your name. There’s also wood detailing in the Type S, but it’s darker in color, which makes for a nice complement to the lighter seat colors.

No matter what your preferred aesthetic may be, you’ll find it in the 2025 MDX. With the car’s interior being as beautiful as it is, make sure to take your eyes off the interior and look out the panoramic moonroof as well; the views are great! The 2025 MDX is, no doubt, the most stylish model yet. Anybody looking for a sporty SUV simply must make the MDX a top contender.

A High-Tech Interior Goes Further

In order to compete in the modern world, any vehicle must have a relatively high-tech interior. The MDX is a vehicle that has gone beyond “relatively,” and in 2025, it’s playing a whole new ball game. To begin with, the vehicle has a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen interface for 2025. That’s a solid, generous size, and it’s offered in every trim. That touchscreen is equipped with standard Google built-in, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto. No matter what kind of devices you use, you will be well-connected to your media, messages, and apps during the ride.

Now, if you’re a music lover who likes to utilize your time in the car to listen to your favorite tunes, the 2025 MDX gives you something you won’t find anywhere else. Pay very close attention to this! If you get the MDX Type S with the Advance Package (take special note of that), you’ll have a brand-new Bang & Olufsen audio system. While you may have heard that brand name before, you’ve never heard of a system like this. This system offers an incredible 31-speaker configuration. Please take a moment to absorb that.

Sometimes, you’ll read about a vehicle’s audio system with 10 speakers and think, “Wow, that’s amazing.” And, truthfully, it is! A 10-speaker audio system is a solid offering. But imagine adding another 21 speakers to that. All bets are off with this B&O audio system. If you’re an audio person, the 2025 MDX puts you in the zone like no other vehicle can. Those 31 speakers include an 8.8-inch subwoofer, two amps, and 24 channels of power…this is automotive audio on a level the world has never seen.

The 2025 MDX doesn’t just provide enough tech to compete. It goes far beyond the competition and gives you one of the most tech-savvy interiors you’ll find in 2025. This is not one you want to miss, especially if you want a vehicle with a strong audio system. The MDX is simply one of the best options for 2025.
