Three 2025 Chevy Colorado in multiple colors

Interested in a 2025 Chevy Colorado? Here’s Everything You Need to Know

Wouldn’t it be nice to find the perfect pickup truck? If you’re soon visiting a Chevy dealer because you’ve heard great things about the 2025 Chevy Colorado, you’re on the way to achieving this dream. The more time I spend with the Colorado, the more I’m willing to accept that it may be the closest thing to the ultimate midsize pickup truck we’ve seen yet, and likely will see for a while. I’ve put together a buyer’s guide so that you can learn about each trim and use this to assist you in picking the right one to get behind the wheel.

WT

The 2025 Colorado WT is the entry-level Chevy truck in more ways than one. It’s the most cost-effective Colorado trim and the most affordable Chevy truck in this year’s lineup. I’m no stranger to base models. My current vehicle is the cheapest trim of its peers, yet it is still perfect for my needs, and maybe I don’t need lavish extras if the price is right. Base models can be perfect for the right crowd, so don’t discredit them.

The 2025 Colorado WT comes standard with a TurboMax 2.7L turbocharged I-4 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. This is the same engine and transmission found in every 2025 Colorado trim, from the WT to the ZR2. The 2025 Colorado WT has a starting price of $36,895, which is $14,400 less than the ZR2, but both trims output identical horsepower and torque ratings, as well as towing and payload capacities. Every 2025 Colorado outputs 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque, with maximum towing and payload capacities of 7,700 and 1,684 lbs, respectively.

Rear-wheel drive (RWD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) are both available for the Colorado WT, despite being the base trim. This means the Colorado WT can be effective for off-roading, especially if you upgrade to all-terrain tires to replace the standard all-season tires. It also means the 2025 Colorado WT has identical fuel economy ratings with the pricier trims except the ZR2, earning 19 MPG in the city, 23 MPG on the highway, and 20 MPG combined on RWD models. The 4WD models take a modest hit, getting 17 MPG in the city, 21 MPG on the highway, and 19 MPG combined.

The 2025 Colorado WT may also surprise you in other ways. For example, did you know the Colorado WT also has the same infotainment center as the pricier models, including the top-of-the-line ZR2 trim? That’s right, your 2025 Colorado WT will have the same 11.3-inch infotainment center, including a suite of software to use to your heart’s content, like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Google Built-In. It also has the same 11-inch digital Driver Information Center as the pricier models to replace the traditional gauges on your dashboard.

Chevy Safety Assist is also standard. It’s complete with Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and much more. Continuing the trend, you don’t need to spend extra on a pricier trim to get these incredible features.

I’m a tech guy and could easily waste your time talking about phone connectivity and why it’s important to the modern automotive experience, just as I have with my peers over the years. I love the Colorado’s infotainment center, and you will too. As a side note, GM has stopped putting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto into its infotainment centers found in its newest EVs. I’m glad the 2025 Colorado’s best tech features aren’t on the chopping block, yet.

2025 Chevy Colorado infotainment and digital cluster display

LT

The LT is next trim up from the base model. It’s not much pricier than the WT, with an MSRP of $40,795. However, Chevy manages to provide a sizable number of features that make it a worthy investment. Although you won’t find any performance enhancements, infotainment upgrades, or better tires with the LT, it has features that you won’t find on the WT. For example, Remote Start with Keyless Open and Start is standard equipment on the LT. Start your truck from the comfort of your living room in the morning before work, or open your liftgate at the press of a button.

Speaking of liftgates, the 2025 Colorado LT has an EZ Lift and Lower tailgate. This tailgate also has integrated StowFlex storage for extra cargo space and an available 120V power outlet. Lowering your EZ Liftgate doesn’t require pulling the liftgate down like a traditional one. Instead, press the button and it’ll easily lower itself. This feature is available for the WT but is standard on each succeeding trim, including the LT. The LT also has an available enhanced wireless charging pad for smartphones to charge your battery faster than regular ones.

Trail Boss

The Trail Boss starts at $41,595 and is the first trim of the bunch that’s designed for off-roading from the start. It has 18-inch wheels instead of the 17-inch ones found on the WT and LT, and it’s the first trim to come standard with 32-inch all-terrain tires. It also comes standard with the Advanced Trailering Package. This package adds a two-inch receiver hitch, trailer brake controller, a trailer monitoring app pre-installed into your infotainment center, and a seven-wire electrical harness and sealed connector. It also includes an automatic locking rear differential.

Every 2025 Colorado Trail Boss includes a two-inch factory-installed lift, helping it reach 9.51 inches of ground clearance instead of 7.9 inches on the WT and LT. It also includes a two-speed automatic transfer case that supports high and low ranges and a shield to protect the transfer case from damage. The Trail Boss has four distinct drive modes: Normal, a dedicated Off-Road mode, Terrain, and Tow/Haul for the best towing performance.

Z71

Next up is the Z71. This trim starts at an MSRP of $45,595 and ultimately reminds me of a more premium Trail Boss. It has everything that makes the Trail Boss great, while adding features that aren’t included or optional with the Trail Boss. You’re still getting those 32-inch all-terrain tires, four individual drive modes, an off-road display to monitor active performance, and more. However, the Z71 begins to separate itself with red accents in its interior. Red horizontal recovery hooks are installed on the front of the truck to give the Z71 greater versatility and a more eye-popping aesthetic, especially with the embossed red Z71 badging on the side of the bed.

The Z71 has LED headlamps, fog lamps, and taillamps, ensuring bright illumination of your surroundings, which is especially great when off-roading or even driving normally in the evening. You can also invest in the Z71 Convenience Package III with this trim. This package adds leather seats. The front seats are ventilated and offer positioning memory settings, and you get a heated steering wheel. The Trail Boss has an available eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, but it’s standard on the Z71. The rear row also gets a center armrest and standard USB charging ports. The backs of the front seats gain pockets for additional storage.

Blue 2025 Chevy Colorado ZR2 off-roading on sand

ZR2

If the Chevy Colorado is the meat and potatoes of versatility, then the ZR2 is the gravy, garnish, roasted vegetables, and a cold beer to wash it down. It’s what I would call the “Complete Package.” There are several reasons why I feel this way, with several notable additions that make it an excellent investment for avid off-roaders and pickup enthusiasts alike.

The 2025 Colorado ZR2 has a starting MSRP of $51,295. It comes standard with beautiful 17-inch graphite and oxide gold aluminum wheels with 33-inch mud-terrain tires. Its sizable three-inch factory-installed lift is complemented by a bespoke premium suspension system, Multimatic dampers, and a Baja drive mode exclusive to the ZR2 for traversing sand. The ZR2 is also generally taller and wider than the other Colorado models, and has an exclusive design focused on a sleek, yet menacing style, notably with its more squared-off grille and off-road rocker protectors. These impressive off-roading features are included because the ZR2 comes standard with the trim-exclusive ZR2 Off-Road Package.

Let’s quickly look at the ZR2 Bison Edition, an $11,700 package only available for the ZR2. This truck means business and is undoubtedly the most premium and versatile 2025 Colorado. Aside from skid plates protecting the transfer case, rear differential, fuel tank, and more, it features larger-than-life 35-inch mud terrain tires, beadlock capable wheels, and has a class-leading 12.2 inches of ground clearance for superb off-roading. The ZR2 Bison comes at a price, but it’s well worth it if you have the money.

The People’s Truck

It’s clear that Chevy made all the right choices when designing the 2025 Colorado, and it’s all the better because of it. You’ll be treated to an excellent pickup truck experience with any 2025 Colorado trim, and I hope this guide serves you well as you take your next step.
