2025 Jeep Wrangler Buyer’s Guide

There are few vehicles that are more iconic than the Jeep Wrangler. In an era when an increasing number of sedans and SUVs look so much alike that you need to see a brand logo to tell them apart, the Wrangler stands out as one of the most distinctive models available today. With the famous seven-slot grille and circular headlights that harken back to the first Jeeps of the 1940s, you are never going to mistake another vehicle for a Jeep Wrangler.

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler features some mid-generation updates and upgrades that make this model better than ever. If you are looking for a Jeep Wrangler for sale, keeping these different features in mind will help you decide on the one that is right for you. There are some things that are standard on every Wrangler, including its impressive four-wheel drive that gives you unrivaled traction, especially in off-road conditions. In addition, every Wrangler comes with a removable roof and doors, allowing you to ride in the open air, a feature that Jeep enthusiasts love to enjoy in warmer weather. Some Wrangler models give you the choice of a removable hardtop or a fabric soft top, which comes down to personal taste.

Three Versions to Choose From

At the outset, when choosing a Jeep Wrangler, you have to keep in mind that there are actually three different versions of the 2025 Wrangler. The standard version has two doors and seating for four passengers. This is often simply referred to as the Wrangler. The larger, four-door model is called the Wrangler Unlimited and has room for up to five passengers. Finally, Jeep offers the Wrangler 4xe, a plug-in hybrid version of the Unlimited. This was introduced for the 2021 model year.

Aside from passenger capacity, your choice of Wrangler will have an effect on the amount of cargo space in your vehicle. The Wrangler Unlimited has the largest cargo space, providing 31.7 cubic feet of space behind the Wrangler’s famous swing gate with full-size spare tire. This can be expanded to 72.4 cubic feet of space by folding down the rear row of seats. The two-door Wrangler affords the smallest amount of cargo space, giving you 12.9 cubic feet in the trunk, with a total of 31.7 cubic feet if you fold down the rear seats. Finally, the Wrangler 4xe has 27.7 cubic feet of cargo space inside its rear compartment. You can expand this to 67.4 cubic feet by folding down the Jeep’s rear seats.

Four Powertrain Options

Jeep offers the 2025 Wrangler with four different engine options. Two are wedded to specific variants, so you should keep this in mind if either of these powertrains interests you. The standard engine for the Wrangler is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. This comes paired with a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain provides 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The Wrangler can tow up to 5,000 pounds when equipped with this engine, making it a good choice for folks who plan to tow things like campers and boats with their vehicles.

If you want better fuel economy from your Wrangler or are uncomfortable working a manual transmission, you can opt for a 2.0-liter turbocharged gas engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This is offered as an option on most Wrangler models. The addition of a turbocharger boosts performance from its four cylinders, delivering 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Like the V6 engine, the Wrangler equipped with this turbocharged I-4 can tow up to 5,000 pounds.

The remaining two engines are specific to certain Wrangler models. The 6.4-liter HEMI 392 V8 with an eight-speed automatic transmission is only offered on the Jeep Rubicon 392 Final Edition. This delivers a powerful 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, effectively answering the question of what would happen if you put a sports car engine in a Jeep Wrangler. As a result, the Wrangler 392 can go from zero to 60 mph in just four seconds flat. If you are interested in this model, you may want to consider buying it now since Jeep has announced that 2025 will be the last year for the Wrangler 392.

The final powertrain option is featured only on the Wrangler 4xe. This is a 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 combined with a pair of electric motors mounted to the engine and transmission. The electric motors draw power from a 17.3 kWh battery. This delivers a combined 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. As a plug-in hybrid, the Wrangler 4xe runs primarily on its electric motors. This will significantly reduce fuel consumption, giving you an estimated 49 MPGe. In order to charge the battery, you can use a Level 1 (120V) or Level 2 (240V) charging cord. This allows you to recharge the battery at home in as little as 2.5 hours.

Uconnect Helps You Stay Connected

If you are like most drivers, you are going to want to stay connected wherever you go. This is why every 2025 Jeep Wrangler features a Uconnect infotainment system on a 12.3-inch horizontal touchscreen. This is the largest standard touchscreen offered on any vehicle in the Wrangler’s class and gives you exceptional visibility when accessing the features. The Uconnect system allows you to pair your smartphone using Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay connectivity. This will let you make hands-free calls and texts while streaming your favorite music and apps.

For drivers who are looking to take their Wrangler off-road, Jeep offers the Off-Road Pages+ Package. This will give you access to over 200 detailed off-road trail guides, so you will have exceptional navigation through these areas. This system integrates Adventure Guides and GPS Trail Logs into the Uconnect system. You can even unlock over 3,000 trail guides by upgrading to the Off-Road Pages+ All-Access membership. Drivers who want to make following the navigation easier can opt for the available seven-inch Digital Cluster Display on their 2025 Jeep Wrangler. This will give you the turn-by-turn navigation right in front of you as you drive your Wrangler.

An Incredible Assortment of Trim Levels

No matter which Jeep Wrangler variant you choose, you are going to get an unrivaled selection of trim levels to choose from. The base model on the Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited is the Sport, which features a Command-Trac part-time 4×4 system, tow hooks, Dana solid front and rear axles, and skid plates to shield the fuel tank, transmission, and transfer case. In addition, this is the first year that the Wrangler Sport features power windows and door locks. The Sport S is the entry-level model on the Wrangler 4xe and is also offered on the other two variants. This comes with adaptive cruise control and a Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning System to help you avoid accidents.

Named for the first Jeep model, the Willys is available for all three variants and features a locking rear differential to help you get out of muddy conditions, LED lighting, and a set of specialized off-road tires. Named for the famous desert, the Sahara has body-color fender flares, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a seven-inch Digital Cluster Display on the driver’s side dashboard.

Drivers who love off-roading will enjoy the Rubicon. This trim comes with a Rock-Trac Heavy-Duty part-time 4×4 system with a 4:1 transfer case. It also has front and rear locking differentials with an electronic sway bar disconnect to give you improved traction. The Rubicon rides on a set of all-terrain tires to give you unrivaled grip. The Rubicon X adds leather seats, a set of steel bumpers, and the full Safety and Technology Group, including a nine-speaker Alpine Premium Audio System that will provide the perfect soundtrack to your next adventure.

As you can see, going up each trim level adds a number of off-road, comfort, convenience, and technology features to your Jeep Wrangler. This gives you the ability to choose the features you desire, as well as get one at a price point that fits your budget.
